Just Updated
Hello everyone!
Earlier today, Fandom released a minor design update to the VisualEditor, both the Visual Mode and the Source Mode (aka 2017 editor), to help simplify it and make it more intuitive. I recommend reading this blog for detailed information, but here are the short details.
Renamed some of the tools (e.g. "paragraph" is now "normal text")
Shuffled some icons around (e.g. the back and forward arrow buttons are now located on the far left rather than the middle)
Hid some less-essential tools from view to make the initial editor view less overwhelming in all its glory (the tools are still accessible in dropdown menus)
For the 2017 source mode: we removed the options available from the menu icon (those three stacked horizontal bars) -- If you want those back, you can customize your toolbar to access them from there)
For the 2017 source mode: we used the menu icon to replace the gear icon
The blog has some helpful pictures as well. And a reminder that you can switch your preferred editor in Special:Preferences ^^ Let me know if you have any comments, concerns, or constructive feedback! Happy editing! :D
Hi guys! Wanted to quickly inform you about notifications being wonky again. They're apparently not ready for the new year either.
Yesterday, older notifications were missing and users were unable to click on them. Fortunately, new notifications are now going through. The bell icon is showing the wrong count until user gets a new notifications. Users still have no access to notifications that happened during the incident plus older notifications until a complete fix (which is being worked on). "Mark all as read" is still be wonky as well.
Thank you again for your patience as we look into this issue. With that being said, since I cannot see older messages from my holiday break, I'm afraid I am missing some so feel free to ping me again if I have not responded to your message! I will also be going through my message walls again to see if I missed any pokes there.
As always, feel free to reach out on Discord (vector_sigma) if needed since I'm permanently online :) Hope you guys had a great holiday season!
Hi guys! Got another short update for you.
The Thanks Extension was added to this wiki several months ago as part of the testing phase, and it seems to be going great! Now, the thanks extension is now available for all communities. Admins can toggle it on/off on the Admin Dashboard, just like message walls and blogs. A reminder that you can view all the logs for Thanks under Special:Log/thanks.
Thanks for being part of the testing phase! :D And I hope you enjoy the extension. Feel free to leave it on or turn it off.
Hi guys!
Just wanted to quickly share that the reported notifications feature is now live on all wikis! It is currently being rolled out so it may take a few hours for it to appear for everyone, but it is live!
What is this? Once enabled, every administrator and thread moderator will receive notifications if there are any reported discussion posts, message walls, or article comments. This is on a per-wiki basis, so you might have to toggle this if you're a mod on numerous wikis. It will only be one notification per wiki, even if there are multiple reports.
To enable/disable it, please go to your Preferences -> Notifications -> Web notifications for moderators.
I recommend checking out this blog post for additional information.
If you have any questions or bug reports, let me know! :D
Hello everyone!
I'm sure most of you have noticed the little site notice appearing on the wiki about the MediaWiki 1.39 update. I just wanted to give a little bit more information about it.
What's being updated? Mostly coding underneath the hood. There will be no major design changes. Consider it like replacing the battery of a car - the car will still be the same outwardly, but it just needs some updates underneath.
All Fandom wikis will be updating to MediaWiki 1.39 in the coming month. I don't have an exact timeline at this moment, but expect it to happen in mid-March or April. During the migration to 1.39, the wikis will be set in read-only mode. It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes (major wikis could need more hours). One week before migration, a banner will appear on communities to let you know the migration is scheduled. For one week after the migration, a similar banner to let users know the community is now on the new version.
Most importantly, if you experience any bugs after the move, please either report them to the admins (who will then forward them to me) or directly to me either on my message wall or Discord. We've done our best to squash and take note of any bugs in our testing phase, but any additional pokes would be greatly appreciated!
Please check out the help page on Community Central for a changelog and further information. ^^

To my delight, the next historical Total War title will be set in China , during the Three Kingdoms era! The potential is endless, and I'm already looking forward to how they'll mix the mythology of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms with actual history. I just hope it won't be too arcade-y.
I look forward to DLCs, too. Chinese history is so rich (and so violent) that the possibilities are very open, indeed.
What are your thoughts?
A blog detailing the development of the TW series as of 07-06-17. It looks like they are going back to Rome 2 or Attila. And the thing I find most intriguing:
We’re pleased to say that our plans for a new stand-alone title have come to fruition, and this team are now in full production on an exciting new release. We are planning to set this in an era we have already visited, but will cover a particular period we are very fond of and haven’t done enough justice to yet.
We’ve been thinking a lot about how our major releases cover eras, our character-based follow-ups span the events of iconic lives (like Napoleon, or Attila), but that we are also interested in flashpoint moments. Those shorter, intense periods where events could have unfolded in any direction, dramatically changing the course of history in only a handful of months or years.
‘Fall of the Samurai’ being based on the Boshin War is a great example of this, and we are planning this new title to be similar in intent. It will also arrive before the next major historical title that the team above are working on.
So maybe a civil war era stuff?
