Altar of Aphrodite is a temple building chain in a Total War Saga: Troy. These can be built exclusively in province capitals. Only a single temple can be built in each province. Each temple built earns 10 additional favour gained from a hecatomb. Each new temple also increases the cost of a hecatomb by 25%. Temples enable the recruitment of priestesses. Every temple increases the capacity for fieldable priestesses by 1 up to a maximum of 3.

The goddess of love, beauty, and sexual pleasure, legend claims Aphrodite took her name from the sea foam, or ‘aphros,’ from which she was born. Although married to Hephaestus, the lascivious Olympian had trysts with every other male god except Zeus and Hades. The hero Aeneas was said to be her son. According to myth, she promised Paris the most beautiful woman in the world if he declared her fairer than Hera and Athena. When he did, she gave him Helen, whom the prince of Troy stole away from King Menelaus of Sparta, triggering the decade-long Trojan War.
