Description[]
Beloved by both gods and mortals, Apollo was one of the most important members of the Olympian pantheon, with temples consecrated to him all around the Aegean. He is the god of the sun, music, knowledge, and poetry, and is credited with the invention of the bow as well as stringed instruments. In the Iliad, he fought on the side of the Trojans, sending a plague into the Achaean camp when Agamemnon slighted one of his priests. According to legend, it was he who, along with Poseidon, erected the magnificent walls of Troy.
