The Armourer is a type of smith building in Fall of the Samurai.
Description[]
The smith forges many destinies, not just his own.
There are specialist blacksmiths in this province. With the right investment they can specialise in weapons, improving the traditional equipment of the samurai, or creating Japanese versions of modern, foreign weapons. In either case, the troops recruited here will benefit from their efforts.
The skills that made Japanese swords were not always easy to apply to the new machines that openness with the West brought. However, Japanese craftsmen did learn quickly and were soon making "native" modern weapons as good as anything from outside, if not in quite the same quantities.
General Information[]
Requires 8000 koku, 8 turns, iron works, iron resource.
- +10 to the accuracy of all units recruited in this province
- +4 to the armour of all units recruited in this province
Upgraded from iron works, armourers double the armor that their predecessors provide for units trained in their province. While armor is definitely useful in melee fighting, melee units may be better served being trained in a region with a buddhist shrine line of buildings instead, for the extra charge bonus. Armourers are considered military buildings, and therefore benefit from events that reduce the construction times and costs of upgrading them.
Missile units undoubtedly benefit more from gunsmiths instead, the modern upgrade of iron works.
