Awaji is a province in Total War: Shogun 2.

Awaji, the road to Awa, is a small island province situated between the island of Shikoku and the Honshu mainland. According to legend, Awaji was the first island of Japan to be created by the Shinto gods Izanagi and Izanami. Although the climate is not ideal for the cultivation of rice, or many other foodstuffs, conditions are perfect for growing onions! The sweet Awaji onion is famed throughout Japan. Gods and onions: who needs more?

Total War: Shogun 2Edit

Awaji is a small island between the islands of Shikoku and Honshu, and represents a staging point from which one could invade either island. Aside from its strategic importance, however, Awaji is a poor province, with barren soil and no specialty. Its port slot is the only thing saving it from ranking among the poorest provinces, though the port may be especially useful for the Chosokabe Clan or any other clan that finds its capital region relocated to Shikoku: such clans have a very limited number of ports to trade from so any port they can control is important.

Awaji borders Awa to the west. While it is right next to Harima to the east, the two are not connected by a land bridge.

Fall of the SamruaiEdit

Awaji now has a land bridge to Harima. This makes it, along with the island of Shikoku, easier to invade and to invade from.
