Bungo is a province in Total War: Shogun 2, Rise of the Samurai, and Fall of the Samurai.
Description[]
Bungo, the home of the Otomo clan, is a moderately fertile province located on the north-western end of Kyushu. Bungo's coastal position, combined with its daimyo's advocacy of foreign exchange, made Bungo an important centre for foreign trade. The daimyo also admired European culture, and converted to Christianity. He invited Jesuit missionary Francis Xavier to Bungo to promote his religious beliefs and to help strengthen relations with Europe.
Total War: Shogun 2[]
- Clan: Otomo Clan (home)
- Port: Nanban Trade Port
- Fertility: Average
- Specialty/Resource: Naval Tradition
Home to the Otomo Clan, Bungo is a very useful province. The combination of its naval tradition and its Nanban Trade Port means that it gives whoever controls it the means to generate larger than normal profits from the nearby trade nodes, or to make more experienced ships to guard the trade fleets. Bungo's average soil is offset by the extra town wealth the nanban trade port generates over time.
As Bungo is the home of a major faction, it has higher than average resistance to invaders if it is conquered by another clan.
Bungo is bordered by Buzen to the north, Tsukushi to the north-west, Higo to the west, and Hyuga to the south.
Rise of the Samurai[]
- Clan: Ogata (Minamoto)
- Port: Coastal Village
- Fertility: Average
- Specialty/Resource: Naval Tradition
Bungo retains its naval tradition specialty, giving it the potential to be a rich province despite its only average soil. It is a potential target for the Yashima Taira; like other provinces in the western third of the map, it is unlikely to be significant for most other playable factions until Realm Divide due to its remoteness from them.
Fall of the Samurai[]
- Clan: Oka (Shogunate)
- Port: Harbour
- Fertility: Meager
- Specialty/Resource: Copper
Bungo is a very valuable province thanks to its copper resource, which decreases the cost of training modern units. This makes it a good target for the nearby Satsuma, Choshu, and Saga domains. Bungo is the only province on Kyushu which has copper.
Bungo is bordered by Buzen to the north, Higo to the west, and Hyuga to the south.
