Biography[]

Likely born in 177 AD, Cao Ang was the eldest son of renowned warlord Cao Cao. He was the son of one of Cao Cao's concubines, Lady Liu, who died during Cao Ang's childhood, after which he was raised by Lady Bian instead. In his late teens and early twenties, Cao Ang began accompanying his father on his military campaigns. In the campaign against Zhang Xiu, Cao Cao suffered a rare defeat when he was tricked into an ambush. With archers tearing through Cao Cao's army, the warlord was wounded and his horse was killed. Cao Ang came to his father's rescue, giving him his own horse which allowed him to escape the battlefield, while Cao Ang remained behind and died.

He was posthumously named Prince Min and granted a fief in 221 by Cao Pi, the Emperor of the recently founded Kingdom of Wei.
