Biography[]
Cao Ding was a powerful eunuch in the Han Empire's administration under the reign of Emperor Ling. He served as head of the Imperial Secretariat. Besides this, little is known about the man's life or his personality. Though the generations are a bit unclear, Cao Ding was a member of the Cao clan and related to Cao Song, the father of Cao Cao. He used his position in the Imperial Secretariat to sponsor some members of his family, which may have contributed to the strengthening of Cao Cao's forces in the long term. Though he was an important eunuch, he is not usually considered to be part of the Ten Attendants, and most likely died long before the eunuchs were massacred in 189 AD by Yuan Shao.
