The Crimean Khanate is an emergent faction in Napoleon: Total War.

General Information

The Crimean Khanate emerges if the region of Little Tatary (initially controlled by Russia) is liberated or has a successful rebellion. The region has a port, and is right next to some trade nodes, especially the two nodes in the Black Sea. This makes the Crimean Khanate a good candidate for invasion, particularly for Russia if it ever loses the region: it has one of the few ports the faction initially has access to, and without ports its trading capability is crippled.

Along with the Ottoman Empire, the Crimean Khanate is one of only two factions that has Islam as its faction religion. This means that in the highly unlikely event that it decides to expand, it'll have to cope with correspondingly much higher civil unrest in Protestant or Catholic regions.

Unit Roster

The Crimean roster is unusual for a minor faction. In addition to the light and heavy cavalry most factions field, the Crimean Khanate is the only faction outside of Russia to field Cossack Cavalry: very cheap lancer cavalry with inferior stats but nevertheless possess a powerful charge. Crimean Cossack Cavalry are the only non-Russian units in the game to be resistant to cold fatigue.

The Crimean infantry roster consists of line infantry, militia, grenadiers, and skirmishers. It lacks light infantry and elite infantry.

The Crimean artillery and ship rosters are both well below average. The Crimean Khanate is one of the few factions that can field neither howitzers nor horse artillery, and it lacks heavy ships and steam-powered ships.
