England is one of the factions of Medieval II: Total War, unlocked at start of campaign. They follow the Catholic Church.

Introduction

Having recently wrestled control of England from the Saxons, many would expect the conquering Normans to be somewhat spent and weakened. However, the new rulers of England have swiftly replaced and improved the taxation system so as to replenish their coffers in quick time. Most importantly, William the Conqueror came with the support of the Pope, as well as a mixed force of well-trained infantry, archers, and heavy cavalry. England's new masters have a more modern approach to the art of warfare, and the will to utilize the country's rich resources to maximum effect.

The English court may now speak French, but the Normans certainly don't consider their new conquest a French territory. This independence in England, plus the proximity  of Normandy to other lands the French monarchy consider their own, makes France an immediate and obvious threat to deal with. The ever stubborn Scottish also prevent the King of England from having uncontested control of the British Isles.

Though they presently face trouble on multiple fronts, the English are in a rather promising position. The Scots to the north are isolated from the rest of Europe, and should be easy to wear down without a strong ally from the mainland. The French royal forces are more than a match for the armies in Normandy, but they also have enough fronts to deal with right now that they are unlikely to be able to drive them from the continent anytime soon.

Strengths

Boasts superb longbowmen and strong infantry.

Weaknesses

Fields a poor variety of cavalry.

England is a European faction that is featured in Medieval II: Total War. The country begins the game with the cities of Nottingham, Caen and London. England is later joined with Scotland and Wales to create the country of Great Britain which is a playable faction in the game, Empire: Total War.

After conquering England in 1066, the Normans rapidly replenished their coffers with an efficient new taxation system. The balanced force of their army and the fact that they invaded with the support of the Pope also counted in their favour, allowing them to conduct a more modern form of warfare for the new age. While Scotland to the north prevent England from having full control of the British Isles, they are isolated from potential allies in Europe and are therefore a relatively easy target. France to the south are plenty strong enough to defeat the English force in Normandy, but they have enough fronts to deal with that they are unlikely to be marching in force before England are able to gain a stronger hold on northern France. England's Longbowmen are some of the strongest in the world as well as strong infantry, although they have a poor variety of cavalry.

England starts with a Large Town in London and Castles in Nottingham and Caen. They have enough troops to expand into local regions, but must prioritize where they want to expand to. Scotland are an immediate threat and must be dealt with early on, either by destroying them early on or by blocking off their expansion. The initial challenge is to create a powerbase of eight to ten territories, creating an economy large enough to support the powerful armies that they are going to use to take on the world. English armies sport skilled longbowmen and powerful infantry, while England lacks a good variety of cavalry the cavalry forces they do possess Knights such as Feudal and English knights and the lighter Hobilars and demi lancers that are very capable units, this combination of units makes England a very powerful and balanced faction.
