Fukushima is a province in Total War: Shogun 2, Rise of the Samurai, and Fall of the Samurai.

Description[]

Situated at the southernmost end of Tohoku, Fukushima is a fertile area with lush forests and tall mountains. Fukushima marked the ancient gateway to the untamed northern regions and, during the Asuka period, great barriers were erected to keep the northern tribesmen from encroaching upon the civilised people to the south.

Total War: Shogun 2[]

Fukushima is a useful province, with fertile soil, a port relatively close to a trade node, and wood as a resource. Fukushima is the northernmost province to have wood as a resource, making it a useful hub for building ships for the nearby factions: the Date Clan, Uesugi Clan, Hojo Clan, and Takeda Clan.

Fukushima borders Miyagi to the north-east, Uzen to the north, Echigo to the west, Shimotsuke to the south-west, and Hitachi to the south.

Rise of the Samurai[]

  • Clan: Soma (Taira)
  • Port: Coastal Village
  • Fertility: Fertile
  • Specialty/Resource: Wood

Fukushima is the northernmost province with wood as a resource, and is the closest wood-bearing province to the Hiraizumi Fujiwara and the Kubota Fujiwara. It is also quite near to the Kamakura Minamoto. Fukushima's fertile soil and wood make it a rich province, and it is also a great province to build ships from.

Both branches of the Fujiwara clan tend to invade Fukushima early in the campaign. If playing as either, if the player annexes it, the A.I controlled Fujiwara almost always declares war shortly after, despite good diplomatic relations. This is a particular problem for the Hiraizumi Fujiwara, who don't have any other direction to expand in short of staging naval invasions--or preemptively invading its sister faction.

Fall of the Samurai[]

Fukushima retains its fertile soil, and is now part of the Rail Network. It is the home province of the playable Aizu domain.
