For the character, see Gao Gan
Gao Gan is a non-playable faction in Total War: Three Kingdoms. The faction is located in northern China, with its capital in Shangdang commandery. It appears in 190, 194, and 200. Gaining a rank as a duke, king or emperor renames the faction to Bing.
Unique Features[]
Gao Gan isn't a playable faction and therefore doesn't have any unique units, buildings or features.
Starting Situation[]
Rise of the Warlords (190)[]
Gao Gan starts off owning the commandery capital of Shangdang commandery, which grants him a powerful base from which to expand. He is primarily bordered by the Han Empire, which gives him much room to expand. Furthermore, there are no major factions bordering him, with only Zheng Jiang being relatively nearby. Combined, this gives Gao Gan a great opportunity to expand.
Characters
A World Betrayed (194)[]
Gao Gan's realm has expanded somewhat, but things have not improved. He has been vassalized Yuan Shao, who is at war on all sides. This has left Gao Gan to fend for himself against the powerful Zhang Yan lined up on the northern border. There is a good chance he will be defeated and lose much – if not all – of his territory to the bandit.
Characters
- Gao Gan
- Xia Zhao
- Gao Ruo
- Deng Sheng (twice)
- Zuozi Zhulan (twice)
- Ying Shao (twice)
- Quan Rou (twice)
Note: Gao Gan has an odd bug in 194 where Ying Shao, Zuozhi Zhulan, Quan Rou and Deng Sheng appear twice. While Ying Shao retains his stats, the other three have different stats, traits, and sometimes even ages than their original character. This can lead to a weird situation where – if Gao Gan's faction is conquered – these characters may appear as candidates twice. This bug does not appear in 200.
Fates Divided (200)[]
Gao Gan has expanded significantly in 200, yet remains a vassal of Yuan Shao. However, his territory borders the much larger enemy Duchy of Wei to the south and west. Xiahou Dun approaches from the west, and Cao Ren approaches from the south. Furthermore, the threat of Zhang Yan remains in the east, as he can expand into the unprotected Taiyuan commandery. Gao Gan has to manoeuvre well and rely on his allies, or his faction will be conquered from three sides at once.
