S2TW Gold Mining Complex

The Gold Mining Complex is a type of gold mine building in Total War: Shogun 2.

Description[]

A mountain has deep roots, and hides its riches well.

There is gold in this province. By investing in bigger and deeper mines, and the associated smelters above the mine tunnels, it is possible to greatly increase the wealth generated here.

Gold is, of course, always welcome to any daimyo because all wise commanders know that wars cannot be fought, let alone won, without wealth. Gold mining, however, is a dirty and dangerous business for the miners and surface workers. Their lives are likely to be short and brutal, and woe betide anyone who even thinks about stealing any of the produce!

General Information[]

Requires Open Pit Gold Mine, 2000 koku, ??? turns.

  • +2400 to wealth from mines in this province

Gold mining complexes produce more flat wealth than any other building in the game. Provinces with gold mining complexes are usually the richest provinces any faction may own. These upgrades have a short break-even and are worthwhile for building at any time outside of the very late game: the gold mining complex generates 1,200 more koku than its predecessor, which means that assuming default tax rates it pays for itself within a dozen turns or so.
