Goto is a province in Fall of the Samurai.

Description[]

Goto literally means "five-island archipelago", although there are actually over 140 small islands in the group, situated off the coast of Kyushu (the south-westernmost of the three large Japanese islands) and spanning 51 miles (82 kilometres) from end to end. Mount Aso, the most active volcano in the region, is in Goto. Its closest neighbouring province on the mainland is Nagasaki. The population of Goto are largely Catholic, thanks to their contacts with the Porguguese during the Sengoku Jidai era.

General Information[]

  • Clan: Fukue
  • Port: Harbour
  • Fertility: Meager
  • Specialty/Resource: None

Goto is an unremarkable province, with meager soil and no specialty. It is a thorn in the side of the playable (and Imperial) factions that begin on Kyushu, the Saga and Satsuma, as it is owned by the pro-Shogunate Fukue, so subduing it can be important to securing borders and ports despite its low value as a province.

Goto lies to the west of Kyushu island, making it the westernmost province in the game. The closest province to it is Nagasaki.
