For other incarnations of the faction, see Great Britain.
Great Britain is an unplayable faction in Fall of the Samurai.
General Information[]
Along with France and the United States of America, Great Britain is one of three foreign powers that can be traded with by the playable factions.
Great Britain is functionally near-identical to the United States and France. All three require a faction to build a trading port before they automatically engage in trade. In terms of the volume of trade goods they buy, they act as one-province factions, initially buying three tonnes/bushels of goods per type. In exchange, they sell cotton and foreign machines, which are required for upgrading certain military and economic buildings. Like the other foreign powers, Great Britain never declares war on any faction, nor can it be declared war upon. It cannot field any units or ships. Should trade be lost with Great Britain for any reason, such as if the port trading with it is damaged or demolished, or if the port's province is conquered by another faction, it can never be reestablished again. This has significant gameplay implications, as the foreign machines and cotton the foreign powers export are necessary for upgrading many economic buildings, as well as reaching the final tier of modern military buildings.
British trade goods enter the world map from the bottom-left hand corner of the screen, close to the island of Tanegashima.
Factions with a pro-Imperial allegiance can have Great Britain establish a military mission, which grants them +5 accuracy to all ships, allows them to build a British Trading District, as well as the ability to recruit Royal Marines and build Ironclad - Warrior class ships.
Trivia[]
- By this point in history, the power formerly known as Great Britain had renamed itself the United Kingdom. It is listed as Great Britain here because it is called Great Britain in-game.
