For the character, see Han Sui
Han Sui is a non-playable faction in Total War: Three Kingdoms. It starts the campaign in northern China, located in Jincheng commandery. The faction exists in 190, 194, 200, and 182. Gaining a rank as a duke, king, or emperor renames the faction to Zhai.
Unique Features[]
Han Sui isn't a playable faction and therefore doesn't have any unique units, buildings, or features.
Starting Situation[]
Rise of the Warlods (190)[]
Han Sui starts the campaign in northwestern China as an ally to the more powerful Ma Teng which borders him. An imperial loyalist, he does not start at war with the Han Empire nor with Dong Zhuo. He is at war with both Yellow Turban Warlord Gong Du and the generic Yellow Turban Rebellion. Han Sui could hypothetically expand northwards, establishing order in the abandoned Wuwei and Shuofang commanderies.
Characters
Note: Han Sui's 190 start is the host of a bizarre bug. Upon the start of the campaign, there will be an instant defection from Miao Wanwan. This is Han Sui's own wife, and she is present during all the other start dates. The game will treat the two as never being married, and Miao Wanwan won't even be considered family by all three of her own children. Because of this bug, she isn't listed in the 190 start but will still be referred to as Han Sui's wife on the rest of this wiki.
Mandate of Heaven (182)[]
Mandate of Heaven is a heavily story-driven DLC, and due to Han Sui being unplayable, he has no content here. While he's allied with the nearby Ma Teng once more, he is not a part of the larger Han alliance under Liu Hong. Therefore, Han Sui will likely not be involved in quelling the Yellow Turban Rebellion led by Zhang Jue, Bao, and Liang. The same path of expansion through establishing order remains available, however. Han Sui can expand into Wuwei, Anding and Shuofang commanderies, though Dong Zhuo will likely be doing the same thing.
Characters
A World Betrayed (194)[]
Han Sui has expanded his territory significantly, moving his capital to Wuwei commandery. His former land has been taken over by Ma Teng, who remains his stalwart ally. While initially starting the campaign at peace, Han Sui will undoubtedly be dragged into a war with Li Jue by his ally Ma Teng, which might prove lethal for the faction.

Fates Divided (200)[]
Betrayal never comes from an enemy. Han Sui and Ma Teng have turned against each other, and their friendship is shattered. While having more territory, Han Sui has a far weaker military force. To make matters worse, he lost all of Wuwei commandery to Zhang Meng. If he can survive against Ma Teng, he can perhaps establish order in the empty lands to the northeast, though survival against Ma Teng is unlikely for Han Sui.
