The Hatakeyama Clan is a minor non-playable faction in Total War: Shogun 2.
General Information[]
The Hatakeyama Clan is one of the strongest clans in the early game, and holds a total of four regions. Unfortunately, these regions are spread throughout Japan, leaving the Hatakeyama vulnerable to attack from many factions and with the armies of the regions unable to support each other. This weakness can also be a strength, however: the Hatakeyama Clan is very difficult to completely eradicate in the early game, and declaring war on it can have long-term repercussions should they call their allies to fight with them.
History[]
The Hatakeyama families are the descendants of Taira Takamochi. Once, in the Muromachi period, the clan became very powerful but, just like many other clans, were left in ruin in the aftermath of the Ônin War. The Hatakeyama in Sengoku Jidai are spread out across Japan, ruled by rival albeit co-friendly branch clans (roughly grouped as one single faction the game) they strive to rise back to their past honour and strength.
