Biography[]

Very little is known about the life of He Yi. He was a Yellow Turban leader of the so-called "Resurgent Yellow Turbans" (those that arose after the deaths of the three Zhang brothers) in the early 190s. Eventually, he allied himself with the forces of Yuan Shu, Sun Jian and later Sun Ce. By 196, his territory was invaded by Cao Cao, and He Yi surrendered, after which he faded from the history books. In Romance of the Three Kingdoms, He Yi meets a different end. Instead of submitting to Cao Cao, he is defeated in battle, captured, and later sentenced to death alongside Huang Shao.
