Industrial Gold Mine is a gold resource building in Napoleon: Total War.
Description[]
Mining is only the first stage of gaining wealth. Every last lump of ore must be processed in search of elusive gold wealth!
Once gold-bearing rock has been dug up, the real work can start: processing and smelting everything that comes up to extract every last troy ounce of gold. Entire hillsides can be ripped apart by men's labour, and then more men hunt work night and day around hellish furnaces. The result is that this mine is a massive addition to the wealth of the region and surrounding towns. The process, however, involves a great deal of work in very unpleasant circumstances, and the lower classes in the whole region are made unhappy by this building.
A mine owner, on the other hand, can be enriched beyond the dreams of Croesus, despite the cost in human terms. In addition to deaths in the mines, there are deaths in the processing sheds too: dust is ever present, and the fumes from smelting works are often poisonous. A large mine can poisons [sic] land and water for miles around, and turn pleasant countryside into a wasteland of spoil heaps and toxic ponds. This does not matter, as long as profit continues.
General Information[]
Industrial gold mines produce the highest region wealth out of any building in Napoleon: Total War, but are correspondingly one of the most expensive buildings to construct in the game. Huge as their cost and long build time are, the large region wealth and town wealth growth heavily offset this: not including global town wealth growth, building an industrial gold mine pays for itself after 30-40 turns, which is a very rapid return on investment for a third tier building. Including global town wealth growth can add substantially to total town wealth growth, though, and so make these buildings much more valuable (holding thirty regions and thus generating a total of 100 town wealth per turn, for example, allows the building to pay for itself within 23 turns assuming high-tier administrative buildings in each region).
The Peninsular Campaign[]
In The Peninsular Campaign, industrial gold mines require 4,500 gold and 8 turns to build.
