Influence is a general attribute in the Total War games.
Rome: Total War[]
- Influence is one of the three primary attributes for generals. Its functions include providing bonus points to public order and playing a significant role when appointing a faction heir.
- The heir is selected among the generals of a faction by their influence attribute.
- The general with the highest influence points is assigned as heir.
- If there is more than one general who happen to have the same and highest number of influence points, it appears that the general with the most total attributes takes priority.
- The heir can be manually changed at any time, however, this gives the former heir the ex heir trait (-1 influence), if the former heir is appointed again the ex heir trait is removed.
Troy: Total War[]
- Influence shows the cultural spread of one of the great tribes within a province.
- Regions owners benefits greatly if their tribes' influence is high, for their people will labour with greater diligence, and some buildings will provide additional resources to the treasury.
- Influence within a province is considered "high" when it's at 60% or more.
- There are many ways to increase it, such a construction of certain buildings, certain character skills, ancillaries or traits, all of these elements within a province are summed up and their ratio against foreign influence is given as percentage on the HUD. when factors change, the percentage will change over the course of several turns.
