Iwami is a province in Total War: Shogun 2, Rise of the Samurai, and Fall of the Samurai.
Description[]
Iwami province is situated on the west coast of Chubu. Although its annual rice yield is poor, it has significant mineral wealth and was a rich source of silver during the Sengoku Jidai. The province was also the site of many battles as Mori and Ouchi forces frequently clashed with the Amako of Izumo and their allies and retainers.
Total War: Shogun 2[]
- Clan: Amako Clan
- Port: Coastal Village
- Fertility: Meager
- Specialty/Resource: Gold
Located in the western reaches of the Japanese mainland of Honshu, Iwami has meager soil, but more than makes up for its poor fertility with its gold resource. Iwami is one of only three provinces that have gold, and also the only gold province to not have barren soil. This last fact, in conjunction with its port slot, give Iwami the potential to be the single richest province in Shogun 2. This makes it a lucrative target for invasion, particularly for the neighboring Mori Clan, as well as the nearby Otomo Clan, Shimazu Clan, and Chosokabe Clan.
Iwami is bordered by Nagato to the west, Suo to the south-west, Aki to the south, Bingo to the south-east, and Izumo to the east.
Rise of the Samurai[]
- Clan: Masuda (Minamoto)
- Port: Coastal Village
- Fertility: Meager
- Specialty/Resource: Gold
Iwami remains the wealthiest province in the game. However, its remoteness relative to almost all playable factions means that most of them can't make much use of it by the time they reach it. The exception lies in the Yashima Taira, which may feasibly reach it before Realm Divide.
Fall of the Samurai[]
- Clan: Tsuwano
- Port: Harbour
- Fertility: Meager
- Specialty/Resource: Gold
Iwami remains a rich province thanks to its gold resource, though it is not quite as valuable due to the poor return on investment gold buildings provide Fall of the Samurai.
As it is owned by a pro-Shogunate faction, the Tsuwano, it can be an early target for the neighboring pro-Imperialist Choshu.
Iwami is bordered by Nagato to the west, Suo to the south-west, Aki to the south, Bingo to the south-east, and Izumo to the east.
