Jade Master Artisans
Jade Mine is a building chain in Total War: Three Kingdoms. Besides providing Jade, the building gives a whole list of bonuses for the faction that built it. These include large amounts of income and increased reserve capacity. The alternative path also provides trade influence. Both branches give a small reduction in construction cost for Learning and Market Buildings.

The people here are inward looking and able to operate outside of government influence, which has the disadvantage of not knowing what threats lie in wait beyond their boundaries. Establishing an authoritative presence here would do much for the wellbeing of the people, providing both them and the country with additional prosperity.

The essence of heaven and earth can be gathered for profit. Jade is a beautiful stone possessed of many fine, even magical qualities; kindness, rectitude, wisdom, bravery and purity. Heaven sends it to us by way of nature; the spring floods wash the stones down from the mountains where they rest and settle upon the shores of the river beds. After one of these floods, pickers search the river beds for jade, looking for its distinct colour shining through the shallow waters. Once gathered, the jade can be sold to artisans or wealthy collectors for a good profit.

Jade Pits

Beauty is all around us, but we must work to possess it. When there are no floods to wash the jade down from the mountains, jade pickers must go straight to the source. An expedition of workers and tools travel to the mountains to locate unusual land formations for potential signs of jade. Once a source is located, a pit can be excavated, while setting up supports to prevent caving and loss of the treasures. After the jade is gathered, it is transported back down the mountains, with more miners sent up to relieve the workers if it seems there are still stones to plunder.

Jade Craftsmen
Jade Craftsmen (level 3)[]
By crafting, the magical and eternal can be made available to the masses. Once jade has been gathered, craftsmen are hired to start sculpting it into decorative forms. First a design is created or commissioned. Then the stones are given a basic starting shape by burnishing it with cord and sand, before slow and precise drill carving of the hard stone reveals the final form waiting within. The process is long, and requires the work of very skilled craftsmen, and as such, magnifies the worth and price of the final product, be it decoration for gates, armour, statues or jewellery.

The best of them may even be called on to fashion a jade suit for a dying emperor – the greatest honour!
