For the generic empire faction in Total War: Three Kingdoms, see Jin Empire (faction)

The Jin dynasty (Chinese: 晋朝; pinyin: Jìn cháo) was the third imperial dynasty of China (265–420 AD), preceded by the Han dynasty (206 BC–220 AD) and the Three Kingdoms period (220–280 AD).

In the Total War: Three Kingdoms, Jin Empire is considered a sub-culture with respective faction leaders, mostly princelings and governors of the Empire. The factions have the default militia unit roster and new reform trees in comparison to other factions in the game.

The Jin Empire is introduced in Total War: Three Kingdoms - Eight Princes chapter pack.

Factions and Warlords[]

The Jin Empire serves as a faction in the Eight Princes chapter pack of Total War: Three Kingdoms. It is one of the two Empire status factions in Total War Three Kingdoms.

Description[]

The Jin Empire starts off with most of China's regions and is automatically at war with various factions. Like all empires in Three Kingdoms, they have an Imperial Administrator, which in this case, is Zhang Hua.

Whenever you start a campaign in Eight Princes, the Jin Empire is always the most powerful faction beginning with Global Rank: 1. This is most likely because they start off with perhaps a large arsenal of stacks of armies and having access to elite troops quite early in the campaign. Unlike the Han Empire, the Jin is not vassalized at the campaigns start and is prone to creating armies to defend its regions unlike the immobile Han Empire which rarely raises new armies to defend its regions. It also more aggressive than its Han Empire counterpart as it tends to launch attacks on any faction it goes to war with whereas the Han Empire tends to remain defensive and often does not raise armies to pursue attacks on its enemies.

Like the base campaign, the Eight Princes centres on the Sima Clan and their fight to claim the right of regency to the developmentally disabled Emperor Hui, players control one of the Eight Princes of the Sima Clan and must outplay and plan their rise to control the Jin Empire. The player can either choose to become regent or if they desire, may become Emperor of the Jin Empire.

Trivia[]

  • If Sima Yi becomes independent, he will establish a faction called Jin in the base game. In reality, Yi's grandson, Sima Yan, founded the Jin dynasty, and retroactively made Yi the first Emperor of Jin.
