For the subculture, see Jin Empire

The Jin Empire is a non-playable Jin faction in Total War: Three Kingdoms. It starts the campaign in central China, located in Luoyang commandery. It exclusively exists in 291.

Unique Features[]

As the Jin Empire isn't a playable faction, it doesn't have any unique units, buildings or features.

It does, however, control Emperor Hui at the start of the Eight Princes campaign. Emperor Hui acts similarly to the Emperor Xian mechanic in the base game, as his controller acts as the regent of the larger Jin Empire. However, for the Jin Empire faction, Hui does not have this effect. The regency/emperor mechanic only goes into effect when another faction captures Luoyang and seizes the Emperor.

291 - Jin Empire (green)

The Jin Empire starts the Eight Princes campaign at peace in Luoyang commandery. Its domain stretches across many parts of China and, compared to the Han Empire in other start dates, it is quite strong militarily. The Jin Empire is, however, in severe financial trouble and will most likely get rid of most of its members after a handful of turns, freeing up candidates for other factions and weakening itself in the process. Throughout the course of the campaign, various major and minor factions will attack the Empire, causing it to increasingly lose more territory. Survival as anything but a vassalised rump state is unlikely.
