Jin Xuan is a Chinese name; the family name is Jin.

Jin Xuan is a Commander hero in Total War: Three Kingdoms. He leads his own faction, Jin Xuan, in 182. He resurfaces as a member of Liu Biao in 200.

Biography[]

A descendant of Jin Midi, a prince and a general of the the Western Han Dynasty whose family name was given because Jin Midi worshipped a golden statue. Jin Xuan held several appointments in Han central government, notably Administrator of Wuling, an appointment that will become extremely relevant to him later on.

After the Battle of Red Cliffs in 208, Liu Bei set off to attack the four commanderies: Changsha, Guiyang, Lingling and Wuling which is unsurprisingly, a commandery that Jin Xuan was being the Administrator of. Various sources said he either was killed in battle or surrendered to Liu Bei.

In the novels, his role was more or less the same, with an extra slice of betrayal. As he was being attacked by Zhang Fei (who was sent by Liu Bei to attack), one of his underlings advised to surrender but Jin Xuan wanted to resist so his underling decided to betray him, killed him and surrendered Wuling to Zhang Fei, apparently, betraying was quite a trendy activity during this time period.

His son, Jin Yi, tried to stage a rebellion against Cao Cao. The results went extremely well, for Cao Cao, which meant it went bad for Jin Yi. Jin Yi and other conspirators of the rebellion were surpressed and executed.
