Biography[]

Kong Zhou was a warlord and provincial governor, though he was a relatively obscure figure. The only detail about him as a person is that he was famous for his skills in "Pure Conversation". He was a career bureaucrat who became a reporting officer – a role akin to a secretary or middleman – to an administrator during the reign of Emperor Ling. In 189, Kong Zhou was made Inspector of Yu Province, the most central of the nine provinces of China at the time, though a relatively small one.

Kong Zhou was granted this post by Dong Zhou, but that did not stop him from joining Yuan Shao's coalition against Dong Zhou. He travelled to Yingchuan commandery to link up with other warlords of the coalition but died soon after.
