Liu Yao is a non-playable faction in Total War: Three Kingdoms. It starts the campaign in southern China, located in Danyang commandery. The faction appears in 190 and 194. Gaining a rank as a duke, king, or emperor will rename the faction to Yue.

Liu Yao isn't a playable faction and therefore doesn't have any unique units, buildings, or features.
Starting Situation[]
Rise of the Warlords (190)[]
Liu Yao starts the campaign in Danyang commandery. He starts at peace with both the Han Empire under Dong Zhuo and the nearby warlords. He has some territory to his name and is surrounded by relatively weak warlords, giving him some opportunity to expand. He might eventually butt heads with the Yan Baihu, who borders him to the south.

A World Betrayed (194)[]
Liu Yao starts the World Betrayed campaign in Poyang commandery. His territory and strength have grown significantly and he has become a major power in southern China. He is at war with Yuan Shu to the north. While Yuan Shu isn't much of a threat, his attack dog, Sun Ce, is and will look to expand rapidly into Liu Yao's territory. Yan Baihu might also be a large threat to him. Liu Yao has two vassals: Hua Xin and Xue Li.
