For the character, see Lu Zhi

Lu Zhi is a playable Han faction in Total War: Three Kingdoms added by the Mandate of Heaven DLC. It starts the campaign in northern China, located in Henei commandery. The faction exists exclusively in 182. Gaining a rank as a duke, king or emperor will rename the faction to Guangyang.

Guangyang is a Han loyalist faction and cannot declare themselves emperor upon obtaining the rank of king. However, Guangyang can become emperor by capturing an existing imperial seat belonging to another faction.

The Great Library[]

The Great Library is Lu Zhi's unique feature. Similar to Liu Chong's trophy system, Lu Zhi can collect books by completing achievements. In total, there are twenty books that can be collected. Lu Zhi can display up to five books at the same time, with each book providing a bonus. All books are part of sets of four, for a total of five sets.

In theory, activating all books in a set is supposed to grant even further bonuses. In practice, however, the sets do not work even if one activates all four required books. Whether this is the result of a developmental oversight that led to the sets never being implemented in-game or simply a bug is unknown. Either way, the end result is that there is no point in activating all books in a set and that a player can freely choose the five books they prefer the most.

Below is a list of the books Lu Zhi can collect and their effects.

Starting Situation[]

Mandate of Heaven (182)[]

TW3K Lu Zhi 182

182 - Lu Zhi (blue), Zhang Liang (red)

Lu Zhi is as wise as he imposing, a scholar whose writing often carries portends that, if unheeded, predict dark tidings for the future of the land. Although known also as a powerful general in his own right, Lu Zhi is one of the foremost historians and scholars of the time, aiding in the writing of the history of the Eastern Han. He was also the mentor to Liu Bei, whose compassion and wisdom brings honour to the teacher that clearly taught him so well.

Start: Very Hard

Lu Zhi starts the Mandate of Heaven campaign in Henei commandery. He is at war with Zhang Liang directly to the north. Lu Zhi is at the frontline of the main outbreak of the Yellow Turban Rebellion and may land in hot waters in the fight against the Zhang brothers. Furthermore, as the Mandate War kicks off, Huang Shao can rise up in Dong commandery, most likely ousting the friendly Qiao Mao and adding another enemy south of Lu Zhi's border. Finally, his proximity to the Yellow Turban Rebellion will cause a rapid increase in Fervour within his borders, triggering further local rebellions inside his territory. For Lu Zhi to have an effective campaign, careful expansion is a must. If he finds himself overextended, he may be swarmed by Yellow Turbans on all sides and subsequently defeated.
