Memnon is a Homeric-historical and playable character featured in a Total War Saga: Troy. He is an Epic Warlord Hero, part of the Aethiopian culture group. His campaign is only playable after obtaining the Rhesus & Memnon DLC.

Background[]

Hailing from the remote kingdom of Aethiopia, a vassal state of Egypt, the great warrior-king Memnon was a distant cousin of Paris and Hector whose prowess and valour very nearly rivalled that of Achilles himself. He was renowned as a humble commander, yet his awe-inspiring leadership and might were celebrated far beyond the borders of his homeland.

Under the auspices of the pharaoh, Memnon pledged a mighty host in support of Troy, bringing to the fray a vast, elite fighting force assembled from the diverse kingdoms of the south, a testament to the Pharaoh's power.

According to the epic poet Quintus Smyrnaeus, Memnon and Achilles, matched in skill and both clad in divine armour forged by Hephaestus, met one-on-one on the battlefield, leading to a day-long clash between the two godlike warriors that shook the heavens and enthralled the gods of Olympus.₋₋₋[sic]

Playstyle[]

Memnon's armies cannot inhabit settlements and instead roam the land with no place to call home. Hordes earn their resources and favour by razing settlements, taking advantage of unique war spoils.

Memnon cannot recruit units from the Greek world, He fills his ranks by sending for reinforcements from the lands where Pharaoh's influence and gold hold sway. Some lands are inaccessible to him until he enacts Royal Decrees to unlock them.

Memnon does not have access to regular agents like spies, envoys and priestesses. However his prestige attracts camp followers from faraway lands to either bolster his armies or grant him special actions before battle.
