Musashi is a province in Total War: Shogun 2, Rise of the Samurai, Fall of the Samurai.

Description[]

Musashi is moderately fertile and situated in the eastern Kanto plains. Following the Sengoku Jidai, Tokugawa Ieyasu established his seat of power in the provincial capital, Edo, and the city lent its name to the period that marked the rule of the Tokugawa clan as heads of the Shogunate. The city, now called Tokyo, remains the capital of Japan.

Total War: Shogun 2[]

Musashi is an unremarkable province with average soil and no specialty/resource. However, it is the first natural target for the Hojo Clan as it belongs to their only initial enemy, the Ogigayatsu Clan. It is also a candidate for early invasion from the adjacent Takeda Clan.

Musashi borders Sagami to the south-west, Kai to the west, Kozuke to the north, and Shimosa to the east.

Rise of the Samurai[]

  • Clan: Edo (Taira)
  • Port: Coastal Village
  • Fertility: Average
  • Specialty/Resource: None

Musashi is an unremarkable province. Its proximity to both the Kiso Minamoto and the Kamakura Minamoto makes it a logical early target for annexation.

Fall of the Samurai[]

  • Clan: Edo (Shogunate)
  • Port: Harbour
  • Fertility: Meagre
  • Specialty/Resource: Railway

Musashi is the official seat of the Shogunate. Victory for all playable factions require that they, or another faction that is of the same allegiance as them, hold it. Along with Yamashiro, Musashi is one of only two provinces that begin the campaign with a citadel. This grants it exceptionally high repression, as well as a large garrison and castle that defend it during battles. This makes it an easy target to absorb if it can be taken.

Musashi is initially being controlled by Edo domain, headed by the Tokugawa family. Despite being the heads of the Shogunate, Edo can defect to the Imperial side like any other clan, and indeed almost always does so if the player is leading nearby Jozai domain. Edo is a strong candidate for annexation by the Jozai, as it forms part of the rail network and is next to some useful provinces. Sagami, which lies to its west, can train superior troops, which in turn can be shipped from Edo to other railway linked provinces rapidly.
