Nagato is a province in Total War: Shogun 2, Rise of the Samurai, and Fall of the Samurai.
Description[]
Fertile and humid, Nagato is located on the western-most tip of Honshu, Japan's main island. Many famous battles have taken place here, such as the sea battle of Dan-no-Ura between the Minamoto and the Taira; on a smaller scale, Nagato was where the duel between the sword masters Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro happened. Due to its long coast, fish is the main foodstuff, and the area is famous for fugu, the meat of the Japanese blowfish. Unfortunately for some unlucky diners, fugu is extremely poisonous if not prepared properly!
Total War: Shogun 2[]
- Clan: Ouchi Clan
- Port: Coastal Village
- Fertility: Fertile
- Specialty/Resource: None
Nagato is the westernmost province on the Japanese mainland of Honshu, and a natural staging point for invading Kyushu. On the other hand, Nagato is also a beachhead from a Kyushu-led invasion.
Nagato is a relatively rich province, with fertile soil and a coastal village. Its proximity to many trade nodes make it an excellent place to build trade ships in.
Nagato borders Buzen to the west, Suo to the south-east, and Iwami to the north-east.
Rise of the Samurai[]
- Clan: Ouchi (Fujiwara)
- Port: Coastal Village
- Fertility: Fertile
- Specialty/Resource: None
Nagato is in an identical situation to its Shogun 2 counterpart, down to being ruled by the same clan.
Fall of the Samurai[]
Nagato is home to the Choshu. It is a highly valuable province thanks its fertile soil and its clay resource, which reduces construction costs. Nagato is the westernmost province to have clay, making it a valuable target for the nearby Saga, Satsuma, and Tosa domains. It also holds tactical significance as being the only land entrance to Kyushu from Honshu and vice versa.
Nagato borders Iwami to the northeast, Suo to the southeast, and Buzen to the west.
