For the Empire: Total War version, see Palestinian Auxiliaries (Empire: Total War).

Palestinian Auxiliaries are a type of militia in Napoleon: Total War.
Description[]
These troops are an infantry militia who help maintain public order.
The primary task of auxiliaries is not necessarily to fight on the battlefield, but to intimidate local troublemakers and keep order in the streets. Because of this, they receive little training and, when pitted against regular soldiers, they are likely to run or be killed very quickly. However, for garrison duties and as a diversion on a battlefield they can be useful to a cunning commander.
In 1799 Napoleon besieged the Ottoman city of Acre in Palestine, echoing the Crusades that had taken place 700 years earlier. For once, Napoleon lacked artillery as British forces had ambushed it en route. His infantry would have to take Acre unsupported. After many attempts, new artillery was brought up and broke down the wall, only to reveal that the Ottomans had built an inner wall to seal the breach! After two months of failure and disease, Napoleon admitted defeat and withdrew his exhausted soldiers.
General Information[]
Palestinian Auxiliaries are the best militia available to the Ottoman Empire, although they are correspondingly significantly more expensive. Compared to other militia, they have slightly above average stats in most categories, but have an abysmal charging bonus. Like all militia, their killing potential, defence, and morale are far below that of line infantry, and they cannot be expected to perform well against any unit without support. They can absorb enemy fire and attention like any other unit, however, and their cheap cost makes them ideal for doing this. Their cheapness and the rapidity and ease with which they can be recruited makes them good for providing extra manpower to armies in emergencies.
Palestinian Auxiliaries are also available to France in the Egypt campaign. They are generally superior to Militia, with superior accuracy, melee and defense, but they have a much poorer charging bonus. In addition, they aren't resistant to heat fatigue, making them inferior to Libyan Bedouin in desert regions of the map.
