Parthia is a sub-faction of the Eastern Empires faction featured in Total War: Rome II. They can field Parthian Horse Archers, Elite Persian Archers, and Royal Cataphracts.

Faction Bonuses[]

Eastern Empires Faction Bonus:

Alexander's Legacy: -20% resistance to foreign occupation

Successor Conflicts: +10% morale for all units when fighting Hellenic factions.

Eastern Culture: Shares culture with Sub-Factions: Parthava, Aria, etc..

Sub-Faction Bonus[]

Arsacid Dynasty: Arsaces I, master of the Parni tribes conquered the territory from the Seleukids, Parthia in north-east Iran, securing the satrapy of Parthava from the Seleucid Empire following a rebellion.

Cavalry Masters: +1 experience rank for cavalry recruits

Multiculturalism: -25% public order penalties due to presence of foreign cultures

Zoroastrian Slavery Aversion: +25% servile unrest

Other Families: Following the Persian tradition, Parthians accept local kings as quasi-autonomous vassals. Beyond the borders of Iran, the court appoints less-powerful satraps to rule.

The horse-archers of Parthia, paid for by the riches of many trade routes, stand ready to sweep all before them. Should they be unleashed, or would Parthia's rulers do better to spend wisely on spies, subterfuge, and shadows?

The Parthian kings are served by their agents: the Eyes of the king (Spy), Warlords (Champion), and Magi (Dignitary).

Technology Tree[]

Parthian: Military

Organized Supply: Reduces upkeep cost of Parthian military.

  • Management: Enables recruitment of Champions, reduces recruitment costs, and increases replenishment of military units.
  • Tactics: Improves military morale, movement, missile attack rate. Increases campaign movement range.
  • Siege: Improves sieging tactics, lowers attrition, and lowers siege unit costs.


Parthian: Civil

Social Organization: +1% wealth from agriculture.

  • Economy: Increases wealth from agriculture, trade, and commerce. Reduces agricultural and commercial construction costs. Increases food produced.
  • Construction: Increases growth. Increases wealth from industry. Reduces building construction costs.
  • Philosophy: Increases tax rates, public order, cultural conversion. Reduces political action costs and corruption in provinces.
