These warriors will raise their halberds once more, if not for their cause then for themselves.
Qingzhou Halberds are defined as a lightweight Polearm Infantry unit in Total War: Three Kingdoms. They are a Faction unique unit in Cao Cao's (Wei) army due to an historical relationship between Cao Cao and the Qingzhou Corps, which was a Yellow Turban Rebellion force of roughly 300,000.
Qingzhou Halberds carry the classic two-handed Ji, and are essentially a more unruly, less well armored variant of Ji Infantry. They are not able to use advanced formations. With no shield against missile fire, they depend upon other troops in the army formation to attract and divert such attacks. The halberd in the hands of these troops provides more armor piercing damage and shock value compared to similarly armed early and mid-game infantry.
Qingzhou units are somewhat fragile in terms of morale, but in addition to their generally good performance in battle, they have a berserker effect (Misplaced Devotion) that makes them very unpredictable and potentially powerful before they completely break. Like most polearm units, they are highly capable defending against mounted units coming head on against them.
The other two units representing the Qingzhou Corps in TW3K are the Qingzhou Spears and Qingzhou Assault Infantry.
Proper Use[]
These units are not the backbone of an army, but like all polearm wielding warriors they are very effective against cavalry attacking frontally. They carry no shields against missile fire, and are best used on the flanks. They are an effective defensive unit in a strong army but their generally mediocre morale will suffer when engaged directly by a superior enemy force. However, when these units' morale is "low" they will go berserk! They will become unbreakable for a time and will do considerable damage while abandoning all attempts to avoid blows in melee. They may therefore fight to the death, in a sense becoming "sacrificial" units but badly damaging enemy units within melee range before routing.
Recruiting[]
These Wood class units, as with all Qingzhou Corps units can be recruited by all Hero classes. They are a step up from Ji Militia, with better armor and damage stats. They could do well under any general if used well. Enhancement options include:
- +10% armour, under Champions with the Trust skill
- +25% charge under Vanguards with Fury skill
- Increased speed under generals with the Mobility skill
- Improved melee evasion and charge negation under Sentinels
- Improved morale under Commanders
The are enabled by default with several unit abilities, including Misplaced Devotion, Charge Reflection, and Raider.
- Type: Light Halberd (Melee) Infantry
- Base cost to recruit: 390
- Base unit upkeep: 144
Description[]

In-game (vanilla units)
These halberds, and the warriors they belong to, have fought many sides in these wars; now, they fight for yet another. Cao Cao's merciful bargain drew the remnants rebels into his fold, and so he consumed their last purpose with his own.
They fight now for his ambitions, though without his same zeal and fervour: they will fight and they will break. But every so often, their fire will once more burst forth, and consume all before them in the inferno.
