Biography[]

Quan Rou was from a relatively unknown local family, yet he managed to rise to remarkable significance throughout his life. He was described as Filial and Incorrupt and was a potential candidate to enter the civil service under Emperor Ling. He eventually did make it into the civil service but resigned in 192 due to Rou's disgust towards Dong Zhuo, who served as the regent of Emperor Xian. Rou simply left Luoyang and returned to his hometown, where he would eventually rise to the position of commandant in Kuaiji commandery.

In 197, Rou decided to support Sun Ce, who was conquering Kuaiji at the time. For his loyalty, Quan Rou rose through the ranks of Wu, going from commandant to grand clerk and – eventually – to administrator. It is unknown when Rou died.
