The earth provides for the people, and the people provide for the realm
— In-game description

Resources are necessities for the player to operate empire and engage in diplomacy. Natural and human resources are crucial to the development of any state.

Overview[]

Certain resources are required to construct certain buildings. For example, player cannot build a tea house without first owning tea. Resources are generated by resource settlements on the campaign map. To see which resource is owned by the player, mousing over the resource icon at the top left of the main campaign screen.

Aside from unlocking buildings, having more variety of resource increase player's trade influence.

Resources can be gained by conquering resource-producing territories, or by arranging trade agreements with factions who own those resources. Resources are not measured in quantity; Player either have access to them or don't. Once player have access to a resource, everything required to the resource is instantly unlocked, until player loses the commandery that generates it, or the trade agreement that grants access to it is cancelled.[1]
