Savoy is an unused faction in Napoleon: Total War.

General Information

Savoy is the only unused faction in Napoleon: Total War. Game files indicate that it would have made an appearance in the Europe Campaign of the game had it not been cut.

In real life, Savoy was located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, which include parts of what is now south-eastern France, north-western Italy, and south-western Switzerland. Had Savoy been implemented into the finished game, it is thus likely that it would have spawned in one of the regions in north-west Italy. However, all regions in the area spawn Italian rebels, instead.

Military

Savoy would have had access to an unusual unit roster. Savoy would have lacked access to skirmishers, grenadiers (Savoy does possess Grenadier Guards) or light infantry, but had line infantry and militia, and would have been one of the few minor factions to have access to elite infantry. It lacked access to light cavalry, missile cavalry, medium cavalry, or lancer cavalry. Instead, it had access to heavy cavalry and (unusually for a minor faction) Life Guards of Horse. Savoy would have had the standard artillery and navy unit rosters.

• Savoy makes an appearance in Empire: Total War, the Total War entry directly before Napoleon: Total War.
• The Grenadier Guards are exactly the same as the Italian campaign Sardinian Grenadier Guards.
