Biography[]

Shi Yi first appears around the beginning of the 190s, rapidly rising through the ranks of bureaucracy before ending up directly under the command of Kong Rong. Yet, he didn't stay long, fleeing to warlord Liu Yao to the south in the mid 190s, alongside many others within Kong Rong's court as Yuan Shao and Yuan Tan closed in on the governor's territory.

Yet, misfortune seemed to follow him, as Liu Yao would be defeated by Sun Ce shortly after. This left Shi Yi more or less stranded for half a decade until Sun Quan succeeded Sun Ce in 200. Quan recruited Shi Yi to his court, where he just disappears from the history books for almost two decades with no explanation.

He returned with a hefty promotion in the early 220s, and Sun Quan initially wanted to assign a large army under Shi Yi, but he refused, stating that he wasn't good at leading troops. Still, he did serve as a field commander, often being assigned with other generals of Wu, serving as an advisor to them. Shi Yi spent most of his life traveling around Wu, helping out where needed, all while doing his duties at court.

There's not much notable about his life, as he was relatively "normal" for some of the characters wandering around China at the time. His loyalty to Sun Quan was absolute, and he continued serving Wu even as the state began to decline and grow corrupt. He died somewhere in the mid-240s, presumably around the age of 70.
