Shimosa is a province in Total War: Shogun 2, Rise of the Samurai, and Fall of the Samurai.

Description[]

Comprising the whole of the Boso Peninsula, Shimosa province is small and hilly and therefore does not produce much income. The constant wars conducted in the Kanto plain have stunted much of its potential for development. Today it is the Chiba prefecture, and the capital is a centre of the Japanese steel and oil industries, as well as producing the majority of the country's peanuts!

Total War: Shogun 2[]

Shimosa is an average province, with no specialty and average soil but a port slot to make up for it.

Shimosa is largely a thin strip of land, easily invaded from any direction. It borders Hitachi to the east, Kazusa to the south, Musashi to the west, and Shimotsuke to the north.

Rise of the Samurai[]

  • Clan: Yuki (Fujiwara)
  • Port: Coastal Village
  • Fertility: Average
  • Specialty/Resource: None

Shimosa is identical to its Shogun 2 iteration. It is a possible early target for the nearby Kamakura Minamoto.

Fall of the Samurai[]

  • Clan: Koga (Imperial)
  • Port: Harbour
  • Fertility: Meagre
  • Specialty/Resource: Clay

Shimosa is much more valuable than its earlier counterparts thanks to its clay resource. It is the closest clay province to the Aizu, Jozai and Sendai domains. In particular, the Jozai begin the campaign neighboring Shimosa, and are initially at war with its owners, the Koga.
