Deserted Silk Road Post (level 0)[]

The people here keep to themselves; untouched and unchecked by the guiding hand of government. The people here are inward looking and able to operate outside of government influence, which has the disadvantage of not knowing what threats lie in wait beyond their boundaries. Establishing an authoritative presence here would do much for the wellbeing of the people, providing both them and the country with additional prosperity.

Silk Road Trader (level 1)[]

The expense of silk is justified by its feel and lustre. Commerce is becoming a powerful force in China, as more luxury items are purchased by generals and warlords as markings of prestige, as well as aesthetic properties. Silk, once only available to emperors, is one of the most sought after and revered luxuries, and a silk road trader can be assured of a profitable venture. Silk must be collected from insect larvae, woven into fabric, pounded to a softness and then bundled into rolls for easy handling. The effort produces stunning results, and warrants the high prices.

Where silks can be bartered for, exchanged and traded. A silk market will go some way to meeting the high demand for silks, and open up new avenues for profit and trade. Traders submit their claim for a stall, and receive one based on the quantity and quality of their stock and reputation. The most successful traders are rewarded with the prime pitches central to the marketplace, and lesser traders must share the smaller plots around the perimeter. General Information[]

There are a total of three commanderies that produce silk: Jincheng commandery, Wudu commandery, and Hanzhong commandery. All three are located in the north-western portion of the campaign map. Silk traders make each other more profitable, since each silk building provides a global income increase from silk.

In addition to synergizing with each other, silk traders also benefit from income multipliers provided by marketplaces (up to +50% per marketplace). These benefits are all global. As up to 750 income from silk is the baseline, building each of these buildings results in up to +375 income, making constructing such buildings highly profitable if the player controls the silk traders.
