Reformation[]
Sima Ai was very much a reformer in real life, and this is what his faction resource is centered around. While there are no unique buildings, the default buildings either increase or decrease Sima Ai's reformation. Buildings that are seen as outdated will decrease reformation, while buildings that are seen as modern will increase reformation.
There are five tiers of Reformation that Sima Ai can achieve. Reformation spans from 0 to 2000 and is gained exclusively by building the correct buildings inside of commandery capitals. Note that, unlike many faction resources, Reformation is a static modifier, with nothing gained or lost per turn. It is solely determined by the buildings you have built in your commandery capital.
The five tiers of Reformation are:
Reformation: Restrictive (0-400)
- +2 Might alignment per turn
- -50% research rate
- +4 noble support (all commanderies)
- -50% trade influence
- +20% corruption (faction-wide)
The government has fallen back into the restrictive administration of the Han, and is equally outdated and corrupt.
Reformation: Conservative (401-800)
- +0% research rate
- +0% trade influence
- +0% corruption (faction-wide)
Under a conservative administration, the government and economy will suffer from inefficiency.
Reformation: Progressive (801-1200)
- +30 prestige (faction-wide)
- +20% research rate
- +50% trade influence
- -10% corruption (faction-wide)
Progressive reformation has led to a more efficient administration and booming trade.
Reformation: De-Centralised (1201-1600)
- +75 prestige (faction-wide)
- +30% research rate
- +100% trade influence
- -15% corruption (faction-wide)
The increasing decentralisation of the administration has made the government more efficient and traders more prosperous.
Reformation: Modernised (1601-2000)
- +1 Mind alignment per turn
- +1 Spirit alignment per turn
- +150 prestige (faction-wide)
- +50% research rate
- +150% trade influence
- -20% corruption (faction-wide)
Government and economy are thriving due to a fully modernised administration.

Starting Situation[]
Eight Princes (291)[]
Of all the princes vying for control of the fledgling emperor, Sima Ai stands alone as worthy of victory. Widely praised for his noble ideals and filial piety, Sima Ai defended the emperor - his brother - when it became clear that the empress dowager harboured dark designs. Yet now, with the empress dowager gone, and Empress Jia ascendant, Sima Ai must decide where his loyalties lie, and how he might best serve the emperor as his kin descend into civil war...
Start: Normal
Sima Ai starts the Eight Princes campaign at war in Changsha commandery. His location in the south, far away from the chaos in the north, gives him a relatively easy start compared to some of the other princes. After defeating Li Chang to the south, he can begin restoring order to the abandoned south and subjugating nearby minor factions. This can serve as a good foundation to defeat the other princes in the north.
