Military Security[]
Military Security, while a unique version of the Military Infrastructure building, is also a passive effect unique to Sima Yong which is activated by stationing an army as a garrison in a county. Doing so provides a wide variety of buffs which can be found below:
Military Security
- +1 Might alignment per turn (for each garrisoned army)
- -25% construction cost (all counties when garrisoned)
- +10 faction support (all counties when garrisoned)
- +3 reserves (to commanderies when garrisoned)
- -50% character salary (faction-wide)
- Increased likelihood of finding uncommon talent for promotion following battles
Supervision and security, defence and stability; under military guidance.
The exact wording as found above is a bit confusing, as some effects stack, some do not, some are global, others are local, and one doesn't even work. From top to bottom, Might alignment does exactly what it says. Each garrisoned army provides one Might per turn, not accounting for having multiple armies in the same commandery. A commandery with four counties and four armies spread out across those counties will provide four Might alignment per turn, which results in Sima Yong being able to rapidly fill out his Might.
The wording "all counties when garrisoned" is deceptive, as it is actually all counties in the commandery in question, not all counties in the faction. This effect on construction cost does not stack and will always peak at -25%.
+10 faction support does not work in any form. The reasoning for this is, most likely, an oversight during development. Though the two mechanics are virtually identical, all factions in the Eight Princes campaign use Noble Support, not Faction Support, to take into account the stability of a commandery. This means that Military Security increases an effect that simply does not exist in the Eight Princes campaign.
The wording "to commanderies when garrisoned" includes only the commandery in question, not all commanderies faction-wide. The +3 reserves effect does stack, so a commandery with two armies will receive +6 reserves per turn.
-50% character salary is faction-wide and (obviously) does not stack. The final effect of finding uncommon talent does exactly what it says.
Military Supervision[]
Military Supervision is an assignment unique to Sima Yong and can only be carried out by non-deployed Vanguard characters. Its exact stats are as follows:
Military Supervision
- -1 Might alignment per turn
- +1 Wealth alignment per turn
- -8 noble support (local commandery)
- +25% income from all sources (local commandery)
Your attendant will ensure military supervision of the local populace and their activities.
Starting Situation[]
Eight Princes (291)[]
Sima Yong starts the Eight Princes campaign at war in Pingyuan commandery. He is at war with two much weaker minor factions to his north-east: Sima Gan and Sima Hun. After taking them out, Yong can easily expand into the territory of other minor princes, such as Sima Ji, Sima You, Sima Dan, and Ju Ruo. After this, he has a strong and easily defendable position in northeastern China, which he can use to make a decent claim to nearby Luoyang. His main concerns are Sima Lun to his west and Sima Jiong to his south, which will seek to expand into roughly the same areas as Yong. Nevertheless, he has one of the strongest positions of the Eight Princes and is in a good position to win the game.
