For the character, see Sima Yue

Sima Yue is a playable Jin faction in Total War: Three Kingdoms. It starts the campaign in central China, located in Donghai commandery. It exclusively exists in 291.

Unique Features[]

Influence[]

Influence is the unique faction resource of Sima Yue. It caters to his playstyle of centralised government and is gained through a variety of ways. The easiest way to gain large amounts of Influence is by building Judiciary buildings, for these provide anywhere between 1 and 3 Influence per turn depending on the level. Other ways include certain assignments available to Sima Yue which grant 3 Influence per turn, or simply deploying Sima Yue himself as a general. Influence is one of the easiest faction resources to keep at the maximum level at all times, for even at the highest tier, its natural decay is merely -2 per turn. It can, however, be lost more quickly if Sima Yue loses battles.

Influence ranges from a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 500, and is divided into five tiers of 100. Their stats are as follows:

Influence: Inferior (0-100)

Your awareness of government and administration within your realm is weak, and many have started to question your leadership as a consequence.

Influence: Normal (101-200)

There is no question with regards to your leadership, but there are aspects of government and administration outside of your awareness.

Influence: Authoritative (201-300)

Nobody is questioning your influence within your administration; nor would anyone want to.

Influence: Far-Reaching (301-400)

If a clerk within your realm releases a government decree, there is a good chance you were involved.

Influence: Omnipresent (401-500)

Your influence in the realm is all-encompassing and you are at the centre of every administrative or governmental activity in your realm.

Provincial Advisor[]

The Provincial Advisor is one of two court positions unique to Sima Yue and is available at the start of the campaign. It has three effects, one of which unlocks an assignment. Both are listed below.

Provincial Inspection

Military Emissary[]

The Military Emissary is one of two court positions unique to Sima Yue and becomes available upon reaching the rank of Prince (the Eight Princes equivalent of Marquis). It has three effects, one of which unlocks an assignment. Both are listed below.

Military Emissary

This position is a military representative to the government, liaising between civic and military departments of the government.

Military Interference

The military emissary will interfere with the local commandery government to ensure support for the military.

Starting Situation[]

Eight Princes (291)[]

TW3K Sima Yue 291

291 - Sima Yue (green), Sima Zhi (red)

Sima Yue acts in the name of the dynasty, working tirelessly to ensure the bureaucracy of the realm continues, even as civil war looms. Equal parts principled and pragmatic, Sima Yue acts in defence of the realm, yet when faced with defeat he will not put his principles before his own survival. As his kin turn on one another, Sima Yue is faced with a choice between aiding those seeking to usurp the emperor or those wishing to defend him...

Start: Normal

Sima Yue starts the Eight Princes campaign at war in Donghai commandery. He can defeat his enemy Sima Zhi to the northwest with relative ease, after which he has free reign to expand his power locally. A wide variety of minor princes surround Sima Yue, each of which will put up little resistance. Alternatively, he can strike at the Jin Empire early with the goal of claiming Luoyang before any of the other Eight Princes can do so. His only real threats early on come in the form of Sima Jiong and Sima Yong to the north, though they may spend more time fighting each other than Yue.
