The Slavs are a minor non playable nomad faction in Rome: Total War: Barbarian Invasion. They were made playable in Total War: Rome Remastered along with several other factions. The Slavs are an emergent nation, appearing within the region of Locus Barbaricum, though their exact spawning location varies from campaign to campaign. They appear during the summer of 410 AD and are initially a horde of 7 full armies.

The Slavs were a nomadic Indo-European people who first became known to the Romans when they crossed the Carpathians and settled in Dacia around the second century AD. Over the next two centuries the coming of the Huns, Avars and other nomads from the east drove the Slavs further south and west into the Balkans, where they clashed with both Roman and Byzantine forces.
Caught between the might of Rome and advancing tribes from the east, the Slavs find themselves at a critical juncture. If they can hold their own eastern frontier, while pushing the Roman frontier back, there's an opportunity to establish a Slav motherland.
