TreeEdit

Basically, the way I do categories on the wikis I admin at is a unitary tree or binary tree (one for content and the other for administrative stuff, in the case of a binary tree system). You start with the series (i.e. Total War in this case) as a root category. This is applied a category for games (so Total War > Total War: Rome II for instance), then subcategories of the games (Total War > Total War: Rome II > Units of Total War: Rome II). All of these categories wouldn't go on pages but would rather be used simply for organizing content into a clean tree. After them, you get the relevant subcategories The top-level/leaf categories would be something like Ranged Infantry of Total War: Rome II.

To illustrate my example:

  • Total War
    • Games of Total War
      • Total War: Rome II
        • Infantry Units of Total War: Rome II
          • Ranged Infantry Units of Total War: Rome II
        • Ranged Units of Total War: Rome II
          • Ranged Infantry Units of Total War: Rome II
          • Ranged Cavalry Units of total War: Rome II

There is some crossover, but it is minimal; the system keeps the categories streamlined and organized.

For a functional example of this sort of thing already in place, see this (ignoring the idiot who still put it on a page) and explore the category tree a bit. This should give you an idea of what I mean -- if you start at the root, you can follow the tree up a cleanly-organized path to get to the content you want. There can also be multiple paths leading to the same content, as well, but it is logically organized such that it doesn't appear erratic in its application.

How would you approach it?

Also, forgive me if I misspeak or make a mistake, it's very late and I'm tired. ЮраYuriKaslov - Sig image 08:05, September 13, 2015 (UTC)

As an aside, I have a program I can run that will make these changes (relatively) easily, it's just a matter of having down a finalized format to work from. And we will have to delete whatever categories end up becoming empty as a result of an overhaul like this. ЮраYuriKaslov - Sig image 08:11, September 13, 2015 (UTC)

RE:Edit

R2's units are generally (but not always) grouped by culture. I would prefer consistency (every TW game except ETW and NTW has similarly diverse rosters), but we could group them as European units, Indian units, etc along those lines. ЮраYuriKaslov - Sig image 17:45, September 18, 2015 (UTC)

Specifically I was thinking Western European, Eastern European, Middle Eastern, Indian, American (which if I remember correctly is identical to Western European, actually), and Native American units. ЮраYuriKaslov - Sig image 08:56, September 19, 2015 (UTC)

Well having them in one category doesn't preclude them from being in others, and if it is used by one nation then it by default falls under the umbrella category. There is overlap in the other games, as well; the only other real alternative is to have nation-specific categories which would run up into the dozens for single units. ЮраYuriKaslov - Sig image 19:41, September 21, 2015 (UTC)

Sure, but that would mean that the user would have to sift through the broader unit categories to find what they're looking for. I'm also not talking about geographic terms as much as cultural groupings. The (few) unique one-off units wold be fine imo. It would still be very readable. ЮраYuriKaslov - Sig image 04:32, September 22, 2015 (UTC)

Alright, I'll start on it later tonight. ЮраYuriKaslov - Sig image 19:31, September 22, 2015 (UTC)

No. It's a tree. Units is the parent category of categorical unit types without appearing on pages as a standalone category. It's basically exactly the same setup as what I did with R2TW's unit categories. ЮраYuriKaslov - Sig image 01:48, September 23, 2015 (UTC)

Total War: Arena updatesEdit

Sorry for starting with stubs. I want to get the framework up for all units starting with Roman Empire melee swords then spears then ranged and so on... I was intending to use the categories "Total War: Arena Roman Empire units," and one for light, medium and heavy variants of infantry/Calvary. There is no framework of pages or categories for me to build upon so please let me know how you want me to impli!ent this. I intend to have a working unit stats table template available tomorrow

RoboYote (talk) 05:23, November 22, 2015 (UTC)

I did notice the excess of tags and differences in capitalization. I did not make any cavalry pages, so there shouldn't be any misspelled categories since I only wrote it here in this message the one time. To be honest, I picked the Hoplites' page from the Rome II section to use as my standardization model since no unit pages for Arena exist yet. I tried to emmulate the capitalization and unit separation I saw there. I didn't know categories were not-removable, that's pretty shitty and seems like an open door for trolling; I hope they fix that. I'll leave categorization for you to take care of, though I'm not sure if you play this Total War game yet. If you'd like, I'll upload a screenshot of each faction's tech-tree with the legend explaining unit type and armor level for each army. Till then, expect some new Infoboxes this afternoon. Let me know if I need to add, change, or remove anything once I get Militia Swords and Italian Swordsmen filled in.

Thanks for looking over my stuff and bringing it into line. You've got the eyes of a hawk, sir. If I was to properly fill in the body of these unit pages to qualify as non-stub, do you have a reference unit from any other TW game I should aim to most closely emulate?

Collapsing navboxesEdit

Here is one. The collapse link adopts the style of the header which makes things ugly and imbalanced. I'll have to fix that before implementing.

BackgroundEdit

On an unrelated note, is there a way to change the background picture of this wiki? Shogun II was a while ago now. Brainwasher5 (talk) 05:47, December 7, 2015 (UTC)

Admin's dashboard then Theme Designer.

TemplatesEdit

http://totalwar.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Insights/templateswithouttype

Some of those are very old. I'll remove the ones I never completed and clean those which are still in use.

CategoriesEdit

I don't intend to delete the "X: Total War units" categories. They're very useful. Sub-categories by region, culture and type are intended to complement the generic "units" category.

Categories Edit

Can you go through Special:UncategorizedCategories and remove what you won't be using? -- Fidei Defensor (talkcontribs) 05:21, December 13, 2015 (UTC)

I'll demonstrate what I mean as it's easier that way. Yuri has the general idea with what's in place on the battlefield wikia. -- Fidei Defensor (talkcontribs) 00:53, December 14, 2015 (UTC)

InfoboxesEdit

I think I can do something with it. It shouldn't be too hard. I'll include four "comparison" slots.

The below is mostly for interest's sake.

I took a look at that wiki's infobox setup. As it turns out, they dump straight CSS formatting onto the page in order to make it look the way it does.

That's great for getting it to look precisely how they want on a page-by-page basis but the whole point of infoboxes is to streamline the usage of the templates such that any user, even without knowledge of CSS, can use them. Basically, we transclude the CSS from the actual template page without having it actually appear on the page. This makes it better for us as editors to make use of the template, with consistency across numerous pages. No matter where the template is used, the usage and formatting is exactly the same.

This is a double edged sword. Rigidity is nice for conformity, but bad for having precisely-defined custom templates for every page. It also keeps the "actual" size of pages down.

In theory, I could include an infinite number of IF statements in the template, but it's not really practical. Especially given how MediaWiki uses an awful system for nesting CSS boxes. ЮраYuriKaslov - Sig image 05:06, June 27, 2016 (UTC)

RE: Milestone Edit

Well thats cool! The wiki is brought up to some shape after its dark ages :D I found Shogun 2 lately and I am absolutely loving Fall of the Samurai, it is total beast! It is vastly immensive and battles are dynamic and brutal I absolutely recommend it! Nanomat (talk) 22:01, February 28, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Created a TWS2 page Edit

It is okay I think. So the Shogun 2 color will be orange? Will there be different infobox for FoTS? Nanomat (talk) 18:02, April 8, 2017 (UTC)

For Shogun 2 I am not sure, maybe some kind of gold or bright red, well let's just keep it as it is for now. The Warpath Campaign and Peninsular Campaign using the vanilla color scheme makes sense since both of these campaigns are actually set in the same setting and timeframe as the vanilla games while FoTS is set in completely different era and setting, all of the units and most of the buildings are different and it feels like a different game. If we decide that FoTS needs its own color scheme I would suggest some shade of very dark/blackish blue similar to the color of the actual uniforms worn during the Boshin War, also the FoTS cover and the game as a whole gives me some kind of dark blueish feel :D Nanomat (talk) 17:40, April 9, 2017 (UTC)

RE: NTW Portrait art Edit

On the artist's blog. I was curious and googled "napoleon total war portraits". It looks like there were portraits with hussars and various other characters plus specific portraits for Russian generals but unfortunately it looks like they were not implemented in the final game. Nanomat (talk) 15:44, May 13, 2017 (UTC)

*Guerrilla* Warriors Edit

-*facepalm* Derp, you're right. Two r's. Fixed it. Thanks for writing the description, btw. I keep meaning to write those for them but just get on a roll with filling out infoboxes. Next thing you know I'm out of time and have to stop. Flameroran77 (talk) 04:42, May 27, 2017 (UTC)

Well, that makes two of us that get our stuff from honga XD Flameroran77 (talk) 09:18, May 27, 2017 (UTC)

Religious Buildings Edit

I'm in a bit of a pickle.

For the Christian religious buildings (Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodoxy), do the images look the same for each variant? You'll find them on Total War Wiki.

For the Ashrams, should I just make one Ashram page? The descriptions for each Ashram (Small, Large, and Great) are the same.

For the Madrassas, should I just make one Madrassa page? The descriptions for the Small and Large Madrassas are the same, but there is a different description for the Yüsekokul.

What is your verdict?

TheNapoleonicEditor (talk) 04:53, July 8, 2017 (UTC)

Alright, I will do what you have suggested. Thank you.

TheNapoleonicEditor (talk) 08:07, July 8, 2017 (UTC)

Small Ashram and Small Madrassa Edit

Can you delete the Small Ashram page? I fudged things up and screwed it up.

Thank you.

TheNapoleonicEditor (talk) 04:59, August 16, 2017 (UTC)

Thank you!

TheNapoleonicEditor (talk) 05:17, August 16, 2017 (UTC)

Historical Friendships/Grievances Edit

I think these should be in the main page of the factions, maybe in a dedicated section with other diplomatic details. Also can you explain what's the exact meaning of "if the faction emerges" considering the Ottomans and Austrians are present from the start of the game? Nanomat (talk) 16:58, August 24, 2017 (UTC)

That makes sense. With all of this information we definitely got to have diplomacy section on faction articles. Nanomat (talk) 17:59, August 24, 2017 (UTC)

MP Testing Edit

I have the Peninsular Campaign. There are two other issues. I will download it onto my laptop to see what issues I may have running it, and I will try to set up a multiplayer campaign with you to see if the school's firewall will get in the way. Generally I don't think this will be an issue, but I'll let you know. Certainly, shoot me a steam message or Facebook message whenever you want to test out a multiplayer campaign.

Editing FilesEdit

Hi, I have made a typo in a filename (File:Contruction_positive.png), and I noticed that I cannot change the filename. Could you fix this (should be Construction_positive.png), or could you give me the rights required so I can edit it myself? Thanks, SDzv (talk) 16:16, October 14, 2017 (UTC)

Interwiki Edit

ETW National ObservatoriesEdit

Should I add some information regarding the republican version of the Royal observatories on the Royal Observatory page, or, instead, create a different page for them? ArsenVitiuk (talk)

National Observatories and other Republican buildingsEdit

I have to disagree. The National Observatory has a somewhat different building description, in addition to a different name. I believe that is enough to deserve a separate page.

By the way, Republics and Absolute Monarchies have different administrative buildings: State House (Absolute Monarchy counterpart: Governor's Residence), State Capitol (AM: Governor's Mansion), House of Representatives (AM: Royal Palace) and Presidential Palace (AM: Imperial Palace). In addition, Constitutional Monarchies have Parliament Chamber and Great Parliament replacing Royal Palace and Imperial Palace respectively. All buildings have different descriptions, in addition to different names.

So, I stand by my opinion that these Republic and Constitutional Monarchy couterparts deserve their own pages. And, if you agree, I will get down to creating them right away.

Of course, this also comes with additional difficulties, but we can discuss that separately. ArsenVitiuk (talk)

The way I see itEdit

If there are separate pages for different Administrative buildings in place (check this out yourself if you do not believe me), then why does the National Observatory and National Academy do not deserve their separate pages?

If it were up to me, I'd say there is no need for so many pages. I'd make all links and redirections end up in one "building-level-defined" article, where every page would have three different descriptions of the same level of buildings depending on the government type.

I can try something like that with one page just to show you jow it would work - we can always revert the edits back. ArsenVitiuk (talk) 05:35, December 12, 2017 (UTC)

Converging pagesEdit

Concerning what we discussed before:

Here is what I think the pages should look like. If this concept is satisfactory, I will do the same to all the other pages. In the meantime, do whatever corrections to this page you deem necessary. ArsenVitiuk (talk) 12:44, December 13, 2017 (UTC)

How about use Absolute Monarchy, Constitutional Monarchy, Republic tabs and then have the three culture variants in tabs below? Nanomat (talk) 13:19, December 13, 2017 (UTC)

Finally, converged them into one page. Please, take a look into the edit history and tell me which format would fit better for the headings. Revert to the previous design if you feel it suits better. ArsenVitiuk (talk) 16:11, December 13, 2017 (UTC)

I found out how to make a tabber within a tabber, BUT the generic titles like "Level 2 Administrative Buildings" bother me. Also the three groups of buildings actually have somewhat different characteristics like different tax or different units being recruitable. So I suggest another system, to have articles like "Mansion" with the three cultural tabs and "Council" and "State House" and so forth. This way we will avoid the too generic article titles and the clutter of having tabs within tabs. If there is problem with the naming of the articles I suggest the following naming convention, the article will be named after the two cultural variation names, for example the lvl 3 constitutional building could be named simply "Council" as the ME and I variants use this name. Many other buildings have the same name for the three cultures like "Palace" so there would be no issue at all. Nanomat (talk) 23:05, December 15, 2017 (UTC)
I think that having names like "Level 2 Administrative Buildings" is fine if we redirect all the other names there. It'd be even better if we could type in something like, "Parliament building" or whatever it's called and have the redirect precisely go to the specific tab. I'm concerned that a name such as "Council" could be confusing to users since a) there are probably other total war games with buildings named "council" and b) it might confuse readers since to my knowledge there's no ETW building that's directly named "coucil". That's my two cents though. What do you think, Arsen? Brainwasher5 (talk) 02:06, December 16, 2017 (UTC)

Barbarian Invasion units Edit

Hi again,

Right now I am playing BI and decided to have a look at BI units here. It turns out there are many doubling unit pages (like Comitatenses (Western Roman Empire) and Comitatenses (Eastern Roman Empire)), it's like the situation we had with the line infantry articles for each ETW faction. I propose to merge these articles into single one and just mention the faction variations like u did with the ETW articles, considering that BI units are actually the same for every faction there would be no need for mentioning any variations just show the different faction colors. Thoughts? Nanomat (talk) 15:15, July 17, 2018 (UTC)

About the unknown glitch with categories Edit

Hey Brainwasher. Sorry for late reply. It seems the the notification system of wikia has some problem. I've encountered this glitch that no matter how I try to add category for the page Sen Ren - either through new editor (source editing/visual editing), or old editor (source editing/visual editing) or add category directly onto the page - the categories doesn't work. I think the glitch can only happens if you delete "[[categ0ry:xxxxx]]" (I use 0 to replace the o here for the case of demonstration) in the new editor, which I probably did that accidentally. I haven't find the solution for this problem after searching any other similar case on fandom forum. The only possible solution I can think of right now is to add Nowiki tag before and after "[[categ0ry:xxxxx]]", but I have yet to try it.

I cc the reply here from my talk page because I think the notification system is having problem.

---Lonedwikia (talk) 16:56, September 29, 2018 (UTC)

  • Never mind my dude. I add the category After I deleted every single thing on the page completely. And it worked. It took me more than ten tries to find out the solution. Such a wired glitch. -Lonedwikia (talk) 17:02, September 29, 2018 (UTC)

Apologies, I will re-edit the pages and try to be more specific, however when I say The Roman Empire I mean to say that The Roman Empire can be established in Rome: Total War I, II and Total War: Attila. I am also trying to specify to the people that play it is that The Roman Empire can be established and can fall in Rome: Total War I.

New infobox for 3K characters is online&revert back Cao Cao/Liu Bei's page name Edit

I created a new infobox for 3K characters based on information collected from latest spy reveal. If you have any suggestion, please tell me. I still considering the order of each label/source.

{{infobox/Character/3K}}
There's an example on Cao Cao

I'm also thinking if you could revert back Cao Cao/Liu Bei's page name. Since 3K is very character-centric, a clean page name will be easier to search and navigate for readers/new players.

Also, after watching the new spy video, I feel like XXX (faction) page won't be necessary anymore, since basically every NPC character can create their own faction in the game. Too many XXX (character) and XXX (faction) will be redundant. What do you think?

-Lonedwikia (talk) 13:54, January 18, 2019 (UTC)

I'm a bit confused with 3K factions. Are there proper factions like the Han Empire and other strictly "faction" factions or all factions besides the Han Empire bear the name of their leaders? --Nanomat (talk) 18:21, January 18, 2019 (UTC)
We don't know the exact rule for sure. But about 95% of faction AFAIK bear the name of their leaders, and the faction name can change based on heir's name. Han Empire is another anomaly. The third option was shown in the new spy video which one hero Huang Zhong established his new faction named Shang Yong - the name of the city he occupied. It's honesty confusing for me to realize how the naming convention works at current time. I think we shall see more details in a later date. --Lonedwikia (talk) 19:59, January 18, 2019 (UTC)

Different game article titles Edit

I started some changes like renaming Vandals (Total War: Attila) to Vandals (Attila). I think things are more concise that way. What you think? Nanomat (talk) 20:06, May 14, 2019 (UTC)

It's an interesting thought...I can see the benefits of shorthand, and I definitely think that it should be used within the writing of an article, but I prefer the official titles in the pages themselves. I don't know. Let me think about it. Brainwasher5 (talk) 03:36, May 15, 2019 (UTC)

Fandom Staff IntroductionEdit

Wikia Staff
Hi! My name is PsiSeveredHead, and I’m the Fandom Wiki Manager for the Total War Wiki. I am here to help the community and be a liaison to full-time Fandom staff. If you ever have a question or issue relating to the wiki, editing, etc., please contact me on my message wall or talk page. PSH aka Kimera 757 (talk) (wall) contribs 21:38, May 20, 2019 (UTC)

Main pageEdit

Hello. My name is Nic and I'm a member of the Wiki Content Team. With the release of Total War: Three Kingdoms. We should like to update the main page of the Wiki. We would be interested in tweaking it to give this wiki a revamp. Is this ok if we go ahead and do so? - Wagnike2 (talk) 19:03, May 23, 2019 (UTC)

  • I do not actually know if those can be reverted. Unfortunately, infoboxes that you were using were not portable/mobile friendly. And being as mobile traffic makes up like 60%, I don't think it would even be adviseable to go back to those. I should have alerted you before moving them over though and for that I definitely apologize for. - Wagnike2 (talk) 21:39, May 27, 2019 (UTC)
  • Somebody was already planning on converting the remaining ones. - Wagnike2 (talk) 00:18, May 28, 2019 (UTC)

Portable Infoboxes Edit

Hello!
My name is Cyanide3 and a Content Moderator as well. I would like to help you with the portable infoboxes on the Total War Wiki. As Wagnike2 mentined earlier portable infoboxes are better for people viewing your content on other mobile plattforms such as the phone or a tablet. I see that you have a lot of infoboxes for each Total War-game and they all have a different colour scheme. I would like to help you transforming the infoboxes into PIs and then use themes for the different colours. Do you have any specific colours you like to suggest? You can write down the hex code down and I will use them within the process. Cyanide3 (talk) 18:43, May 28, 2019 (UTC)

Edit: Besides I would offer to clear some of the infoboxes or is there a huge difference between Template:Infobox/Ships/NTW and Template:Infobox/Ships/FOTS? Wouldn't it be better for the organisation if you have one infobox for all the ships within a game? Cyanide3 (talk) 19:08, May 28, 2019 (UTC)

New Wiki Manager introduction Edit

Hi Brainwasher, I'm Bluerock, and I'm the new Wiki Manager, taking over from PsiSeveredHead. Feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions or need any help editing the Wiki! --Bluerock (talk) 15:39, September 9, 2019 (UTC)

To whom I am messaging. I have started posting pages, or atleast creating new pages, to start filling in the many vacant spaces that still exists for units in Rome Total War and Barbarian Invasion (the latter especially.). If there is something you wish to discuss or comment about these pages I am willing to listen as i know they aren't the best pages but its a start to what I feel like are empty spaces that could have been filled already.

AaronFireBird1 (talk) 13:10, October 30, 2019 (UTC)

I would if I knew much about the unit itself. That was the mercenary version, I don't have the exact numbers or such for the Graal Knight used by the Romano Briths yet, though I may just look it up in order to get it anyway/ I'm fine with you making those edits if it cleans the article up.

Project CrossoverEdit

Hey Brainwasher, I've been looking at the Total War wikis over on Gamepedia and I've noticed that Total War Saga wiki (https://totalwarsaga.gamepedia.com/Total_War_Saga_Wiki) could be crossed over to your wiki - basically archived and made to point over to yours. This part of Project Crossover, you can find an in-depth explanation here. What do you think? Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) @fandom 10:52, January 16, 2020 (UTC)

I'd love for any information exchange to occur, since this wiki's pretty quiet in recent years any sort of activity would be a boost. What can I do to help? Brainwasher5 (talk) 15:04, January 16, 2020 (UTC)

Pharaoh housing images Edit

Hey I see that you uploaded the images for Pharaoh's houses on the impression's games wiki. I'm currently playing Caesar III and wanted to upload the respective housing pics to the wiki. In order to keep it consistent, can you tell me what technique did you use to cut the pics? Was it photoshop and which tool exactly? Nanomat (talk) 02:46, January 30, 2020 (UTC)

Ah yes, I appreciate the notice, apologies for that. I will see to it that a proper version is employed.

Possible interwiki design bug for wikitables Edit

hey! I would like to bring this to your attention that when using any table species of class="wikitable" the cell-borders of that table are barely noticeable. e.g. 3k ancillaries. I don't believe it was an interwiki design choice and would like for you to check it out and hopefully pick a colour that contrasts better against the current light steely blue background colour. However, if it was an intended design choice, kindly ignore this and my apologies for being unware. mc_abber (talk) 23:08, May 20, 2020 (UTC)

RE: Possible interwiki design bug for wikitables Edit

I made a few try out tables with higher contrast. You can check them out here- test tables to see if you would prefer a bit more contrast. Thanks —mc_abber (talk) 06:22, May 21, 2020 (UTC)

RE_1: Possible interwiki design bug for wikitables Edit

The first of the four tables is the current default of all species within class="wikitable". We won't have to manually add the design-elements to all the tables as I did with my examples. I was deliberately ignoring the default classes "wikitable" and "article-table" to render different designs. When you change the design-elements on the defualt tables, all tables in all articles with those classes will automatically update to the newly updated design. Which I believe can be accessed from the theme dashboard. However I could be mistaken, the wikimanager ought to know more about this and more. —mc_abber (talk) 01:38, May 22, 2020 (UTC)

New manual of style section regarding resources for 3K Edit

I added a section in the manual of style. —mc_abber (talk) 10:54, June 7, 2020 (UTC)

Deletion Request Edit

Would you kindly delete the page Shone_Clan. the clan is correctly named Shoni_Clan and I have fixed the last link to the wrongly named page.

Thanks

Shogun 2 building navbox Edit

Hi, I nearly finished a navbox for the TWS2 buildings Template:BuildingNav/S2TW If you would want to take a look and in case you edit any pages add this in? (or do you have a bot for stuff like this?) I'll finish the last tidbits within the next days, as soon as I can decide on a layout for the forking building pathes (any opionions?) --Kyoudou (talk) 02:50, June 21, 2020 (UTC)

If you have such a strong preference for conformity, I'd go with dots. All non-building navboxes also use them, as do other big wikis. Imo it is acceptably to deviate in this case, as the arrows and slashes in themself convey information, but I don't care strongly one or the other way, as long as inter-article linking is improved on this wiki >.<

Troy and Wiki updates Edit

Hi Brainwasher, Bluerock from Fandom here.

With Total War Saga: Troy coming out soon, I was wondering if you'd be ok with my updating the main page to highlight this latest release. This would include a new background image and navigation links to new information/articles.

Also, would you be open to having the infoboxes converted to the newer portable style? (Around half of visitors to the wiki use mobile devices).

One last proposal would be enabling the Discussions feature, to replace the older, lesser used Forums.

Ultimately, all these updates will help draw more contributors to the wiki.

Thanks and keep up the good work! --Bluerock (talk) 14:54, June 24, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks, I will work on these in the coming days. If you could gather consensus on the portable infobox conversion, that would be great. Were there any particular concerns you had with p.i.'s, as they can be made to look and function like the current ones, only they'll be a bit easier to build and work with, and have a more consistent design across the wiki. --Bluerock (talk) 19:23, June 24, 2020 (UTC)
Hi Brainwasher, as you may have noticed, I implemented most of those suggestions that I mentioned above, and started off a a few articles for the new Troy content. I also updated the top navigation menu, so that all the links are now visible, as many of them had previously been cut off due to space limitations. Hope these all look ok for you!
Did you have any further thoughts regarding portable infoboxes? I noticed that some templates are already using this format, such as Template:Infobox/Character and Template:Infobox/Faction/STW. As mentioned above, the colors can be fully customized to match with the old-style templates.
Anyway, just let me know if you'd like any help with this. :-) --Bluerock (talk) 18:09, June 26, 2020 (UTC)

Games in Navigation bar Edit

Heyho,

I hope you're still fine with all the requests XD

To improve navigation, would you wanna add something like

***Spartan:_Total_Warrior|Spartan
***Total_War:_Attila|Attila
***Total_War:_Warhammer|Warhammer
***Total War: Arena|Arena
***Total War: Warhammer II|Warhammer II
***Thrones of Britannia|Saga: Thrones of Britannia

to the "Total War series|Games - Game List|Other... " part of the top navigation bar

Also given the post above, you might wanna add Troy to the main list, and move one more game to the "others" section.
Kyōdō 17:34, June 24, 2020 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind admin rights. I admined a much smaller wiki for some time, so I know basic funktions. I do not make any promises on continued activity though. Given that I basically just started playing, it might just be a hype, and maybe I'll be gone in some weeks (though I will make a few more edits in the meantime ~.^ ) --Kyōdō 18:13, June 24, 2020 (UTC)

Top-level category Edit

Hi Brainwasher,

Just wanted to check if it would be ok to rename the default, generic top-level category "Browse" to the existing {{SITENAME}}, namely "Total War Wiki"?

This change will just help to improve search engines' ability to find content efficiently.

Also, was there any update regarding portable infoboxes?

Kind regards! --Bluerock (talk) 17:47, July 7, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks! Also, I forgot to mention, it'd be a good idea to rename Category:Total War series to the wiki's subject ("Total War"), for the same reason. Category:Gameplay and Game List would ideally be moved under this category too, so that all articles are in one location (assuming you have no objections).
Regarding portable infoboxes, I will look into these over the coming days. Do you want them to preserve the same color scheme as the current ones (for desktop view)?
--Bluerock (talk) 17:00, July 8, 2020 (UTC)

Portable infobox update Edit

Hi Brainwasher,

I've now created a draft of a portable infobox, that has similar styling to the current version:

Template:Infobox/Units/NTW/Draft

Note: The "Information" group header was present in the previous draft, but wasn't sure if you wanted to keep it (or possibly add others?).

With your approval, I can implement this into the wiki, and convert all the other types with their respective colors.

Also, just wanted to double check if the "Content" category was okay to move to the subject name, as mentioned above.

Best regards,

---Bluerock (talk) 19:39, July 9, 2020 (UTC)

That looks surprisingly good XD

(my personal problem with portable infoboxes is the difficulty/hurdle of styling them)

Where did you hide all the layout thingies?

--Kyōdō 20:40, July 9, 2020 (UTC)

Okay, I've created the draft templates for most of the portable infoboxes now. Just a couple of the more complex ones are remaining, which I will finalize in the coming days.
Kyoudo, the style sheet for the PIs is located here. It provides a consistent design for all the PIs across the wiki, while the different themes allow for the various customization.
--Bluerock (talk) 18:59, July 10, 2020 (UTC)
Hi Brainwasher, as you probably noticed, I've now converted all the infoboxes now, and have checked articles for each type to verify that they appear and function correctly. There shouldn't be any problems, but if you do encounter any issues, please let me know, and I'll be happy to help make any fixes. --Bluerock (talk) 17:26, July 16, 2020 (UTC)

Nav bar / admin rights Edit

Heyho,

would you reconsider giving me admin rights? I think it's worthwhile to start adding links to troy articles to the navbar.
(btw what do you think of the current navbar? or do you care at all?)

Kyōdō 10:06, September 7, 2020 (UTC)

Category organization Edit

Hey Brainwasher!

I was just wondering whether it'd be ok for me to rename Category:Total War series from its generic default name to the subject name "Total War series". Having a more specific name will make it easier for search engines to identify, and thus attract more potential visitors to the wiki.

Keep up the good work! --Bluerock (talk) 18:32, September 23, 2020 (UTC)

Nope, there's no negative consequences for doing so, but we'd leave a redirect there in any case. --Bluerock (talk) 17:57, September 24, 2020 (UTC)
No problem, I'll get on this then. --Bluerock (talk) 08:00, September 25, 2020 (UTC)
Ok, all done Just to let you know, I also moved a couple pages from the wiki's root category to appropriate content categories, so everything is all together now. --Bluerock (talk) 08:11, September 25, 2020 (UTC)
