Biography[]
Wang Kuang was a career politician and administrator in the Han Empire during the reign of Emperor Ling. He served under He Jin. After Emperor Ling died in 189, He Jin was assassinated by the Ten Attendants. Fearing for his life, Wang Kuang resigned from politics altogether. However, he rejoined the imperial government in 190, where he was appointed as administrator of Henei commandery.
He joined the coalition against Dong Zhuo, however, he was ultimately defeated, retreating back to Henei shortly before Yuan Shao's coalition fell apart. However, he remained at war with Dong Zhuo, who sent an envoy requesting peace with Wang Kuang. Kuang had the envoy executed, after which he came under attack and was killed by Dong Zhuo's army in 191.
