Biography[]
Xia Yun was a notable eunuch during the reign of Emperor Ling and one of the Ten Attendants. He became a Regular Attendant (similar to an advisor) to the Emperor and was granted the title of Marquis. Xia Yun was a particularly close ally to Emperor Ling's mother, Empress Dowager Dong, and he ran an embezzlement scheme with her, sending provincial taxes to her residence instead of to the proper destination. Xia Yun died in 189, most likely before the death of Emperor Ling, being spared from the brutal slaughter of eunuchs at the hands of Yuan Shao that followed their assassination of He Jin shortly after the Emperor's death.
