Biography[]

Xu Rong was with Dong Zhuo since the early days and had earned himself the rank of general under the warlord for years. As such, Zhuo had come to trust Xu Rong. When Dong Zhuo seized Emperor Xian in 189 and became regent of the Han Empire, Rong used this trust to vouch for Gongsun Du to be made the administrator of Liaodong commandery in northeastern China which is why they are friends in-game.

During the war with the coalition, Xu Rong managed an impressive amount of victories. He managed to defeat Sun Jian and, later, almost managed to kill Cao Cao in battle. Had he succeeded, the fate of China might have been much different. Ultimately the war with the coalition entered a stalemate as they failed to push towards Chang'an while also beginning to fight each other.

Rong continued to serve Dong Zhuo until his death in 192, where he was assassinated by Wang Yun and Lü Bu. Rong sided with Wang Yun and rode out to defend against Jia Xu's alliance, led by Li Jue and Guo Si. However, he failed to defeat the two generals and died in battle. The pair would go on to capture Chang'an and become co-regents of the Han Empire... until they turned on each other for power.
