Biography[]

Xun You was born to a prestigious noble family and enjoyed the perks of an aristocratic upbringing. He showed remarkable talent and was eventually recruited to be an advisor to He Jin. After the assassination of He Jin by the Ten Attendants, You eventually ended up under Dong Zhuo, who now served as the regent of the Han Dynasty for Emperor Xian. You was not fond of the tyrannical Dong Zhuo in the slightest and plotted to have him assassinated. However, the plot was discovered, and Xun You was imprisoned to be executed. Ironically, Dong Zhuo was then assassinated at the hands of an entirely different assassination plot, and You was released from prison.

Xun You roamed around China for a while until he ended up serving under Cao Cao, thanks to his cousin, Xun Yu, who recommended that Cao Cao take You on as an advisor. In the following years, You would manage to gain an impressive record as he rose through the ranks of Cao Cao's administration until he ended up becoming one of his most trusted advisors. He would accompany Cao Cao in the field as he went about his military campaigns, providing detailed strategies and advice whenever needed.

By 214, You had become one of the most influential people in all of Wei, yet he would never get to see it rise to its greatest extent, as he died that year.
