Zaibatsu Fields are a type of farming building in Fall of the Samurai.
Description[]
Empty bellies grumble. Hungry bellies work.
Zaibatsu fields provide a large farming income, and help industry grow by providing food for the factory workers.
Large landowners are able to invest large amounts of money in improving their lands, and the transport links to towns and any newly industrialising cities. There is little point in growing more food if it then rots in warehouses far from where it is needed. Landowners can also spend money on mechanical aids for farmers; this frees people to seek work in new industries in towns. This is a bald, cold way of describing a process that can dislocate people's lives, throw them out of their homes, and make them work long hours in unpleasant conditions. Fortunately, Japanese farmers had centuries of experience of being extremely efficient, compared to many others across the world.

Clan Effects
- +2 to modernisation (clan development)
Farms may be built in every province. Every province has a soil quality modifier which determines the amount of wealth that is generated by farming. Provinces with more fertile soil make much more money through farming, so prioritizing upgrading them over more barren farms makes money more quickly.
Zaibatsu fields are the final tier of farms, and the only tier that needs research prior to building. They maximize the income provided by farms, though their cost is so high that they return on investment quite slowly for all but the most fertile provinces. By the time they're available, it may be prudent to build them only in farms with better soil, as poorer provinces can take well over 60 turns for zaibatsu fields to pay for themselves.
